Sorry, I am not a great fan of "sack the manager" but I have to make an exception now. After this start to the season and the quality (or lack of it) recently, I think it is time for Mr Burchill to do the decent thing - and go.

Absolutely no animosity towards Mark.. In fact, I'm entirely appreciative of his work last season keeping us up and winning us a cup.. but, time to go Mark. I think that a manager who has no appreciation of the necessity of bringing substitutions on to break up a game to kill it needs to go. Every manager from the 3rd division to the premier league knows the benefit of killing games through subs.. absolutely unacceptable for me.
TAXI.

I have to agree. There has been too many matches this season where we should have left with 3 points, but have instead been punished for foolish mistakes. A change of leadership may be in order if we're to push away safely from the threat of relegation.

Who do people want to replace Burchill if he does go? Back on the old LiviLions forum there was a recurring pattern of people saying "sack Hughes/Burke/McGlynn" As I said back on that forum who is available without compensation that would accept our salary and isn't past retirement age?

Literally ANYBODY who can change it.. As I said in my previous post, I hold no bad feeling towards Mark, but enough is enough. There comes a time when we need to move on from the current setup that is clearly not working. All the best to Mark and co. when they (surely) move on.

I've backed him all season but his only using one sub when we've several good players sitting on the bench is costing us points. Totally agree that he should be bringing on a sub in the last few minutes to break up play, I'm baffled as to why he didn't do that when Dumbarton were building up momentum on our goal, crazy!!
Not sure about getting rid of him yet but if he isn't learning from his mistakes and persists with refusing to use subs then he's as well going.

Some of the decisions, or more to the point, lack of decisions seem beyound belief. Dumbarton have muscled us out of games so many times and again, 5 minutes before half time, the tide changed and the pressure just grew. If they had scored five minutes earlier, we would surely have lost this game. So Mark, there must be reasons why: 1. You didn't use your subs? 2. You didn't change something when we had completly lost the midfield? 3. You didn't try and get the ball up into the opposite corners? Even if the defenders could clear the ball for a throw-in deep in their half, we might have kept them away from our end for a few more minutes. Maybe if Mark, or the club gave us some reasons for what appears to be inexplicable decisions (or lack of), a degree of understanding and support might just be forthcoming from the support .......... ? Tell us why, I don't believe you're incompetent, but it certianly looks like it.

Official site has it that he has been relieved of his managerial duties & is now on gardening leave....which means he is getting his contractual monthly salary...so probably someone within the club will take the reigns for now.

If the report in the Daily Rancid is half true, then any manager would have struggled with limited resources and the lack of choice in personnel. I've said before that we did not have the depth of quality of player to maintain any consistency and it would appear so. If part time teams can offer better deals than full time ones then wtf is going on behind the scenes? Best of luck whatever you do Mark, you might find a club where the suit does not come in straight jacket form.

What a short-sighted and ludicrous decision to have made. It's not as though Mark Burchill's successor will be able to do any meaningful business in the January window. People have short memories. He worked miracles last season under nearly impossible constraints. Kept up up despite the points deduction. Won a cup. His reward was to have his playing budget cut by 40% so that it was even lower than that of part-time Alloa. His hands were tied in the close season due to the transfer embargo. In those circumstances, it's a good achievement to be 9th in the league rather than bottom. We should be giving him a medal and a Christmas hamper rather than sacking him. Unbelievable. Thanks for all your efforts Mark. I appreciate it and wish you every success in future.

We took Alloas 2 best players from them. We have a far superior team to them and Dumbarton. We should be doing better this season.

Just read the Record link above... So we have a lower budget than Alloa and can't compete with what they can offer players...and yet we signed their 2 best players from last season... They both wanted full time football granted but do you seriously think they would go full time for less money than they would have got part time? Alloa are widely considered the worst side in the division - ok they beat us but we all know if we had played to our potential we'd have horsed them - so how badly managed have they been given they had the full "close season" to build their bigger budget than Livi squad?
Burchill!s overall record is poor, the run in last season and cup run/win is really the only consistent run of good form the team had. There were signs that it might come good again against QoS, Raith & the Huns but broadcasting the idea that he expected us to be unbeaten in December was asking for trouble and the defeat to Alloa in the first of those games meant his statement blew up in his face immediately. Bad enough then that the level of performance against Alloa was woeful but to then deservedly take the lead against Dumbarton and then sit back to defend a 1 goal lead and use only 1 sub and you begin to think he was testing the patience of the board.
I thought we'd see the team kick on once it gelled but they are back playing as if they have only just met, no shape, no tactics, no confidence and his position was becoming increasingly untenable. I had thought our lack of finances would mean he would be allowed to stay and certainly when you consider the Houdini act last season it seems a tad early to make the change. On the other hand, if he can't get them motivated and give them a game plan to beat Alloa & Dumbarton then something is definitely wrong.
He was interviewed on Saturday by Dumbarton's TV crew and was saying the team panicked and the fans panicked...if he thinks that then he has lost touch with reality, most of the fans near me saw the equaliser coming long before the ball hit the net, it was simply a matter of time. He also says that we needed to keep the ball but just kept giving it away... So if he could see that why was he standing with his hands in his pockets? Why was he not taking every opportunity to tell them to keep possession? He could see the problems but did nothing to try to resolve them...that is a shocking admission to make and he didn't even realise he had made it.
On another point...the article said he promoted several youth players to bolster the squad....are these the ones out on loan or are there others that have been added to the squad but not given any game time? As far as I can tell Currie is the only youngster getting anywhere near the pitch.
