Got some good players for this level but need to get the team selection sorted out and have them playing as a team. That's 6 games played and only Sives and DJ started in all 6 of them. Wasn't an ideal pre season with an embargo stopping us signing players and having to get them all in during the pre season games but not too late to get our league campaign going, we're still only 3 points from 6th place and are in all cup comps too.
Looking a bit too disjointed with players not working well together playing out of their normal position, Falkirk were closing us down and had good movement off the ball, we need to sort that out and up our workrate the next time we play them, would help having a settled team though.

I have watched Livingston train most days over the last couple of weeks. The second Falkirk goal reflects the majority of the "training" I have seen the players do: A foreshortened pitch with additional players on the goal line each side of goal, if the ball was going out towards the goal line the additional player played it back in to an attacking player, hence on the two occasions a livi player had chance to put the ball out, neither did and tried to keep it back in play. They learnt in training not to knock the ball safe.
They have done that exercise for many hours over the last few weeks...it has resulted in us conceding a goal.

Auldnick: I am feared that most modern players of that like. It comes from school, our young are conditioned into a fixed mentality, they will do lots of the norm and what they are comfortable at but will put little effort into trying they have not done before or goes against what others are doing. They become metronomes rather than footballers, happy to be led and do what they are told rather than thinking for themselves and what the game needs then. Sad as they must enjoy the game less when they have no creative imput.

When did we have a chance to get the ball clear? Couldn't see one chance to clear it never mind two, the corner was hit to the front area of the 6 yard box, a Falkirk player flicked a header to the back, Ben Gordon managed to get the top of his head to it heading up into the air and out of the goal area (wasn't able to do anything else there) and then it was put across for the Falkirk player to score. Wasn't any chance to do anything other than what we did as we hadn't the ball under control or on the ground at any time from the corner. Marking and closing down could be looked at but I can't see what you are saying applies.
Vaulks is left to wander around with nobody near him, that to me is where we failed to stop the goal, why were our defenders all ball watching instead of picking up players, pretty basic stuff.

Disagree, Gordon could have conceded another corner, at least then they could set themselves to defend the set piece rather than try to defend open play with a gaping hole in the centre of the defence; a gaping hole that was exploited to the full by Falkirk.

We'll have to disagree then, don't think he had enough on it to direct it anywhere in particular, certainly didn't have two chances to clear it anyway.

With more zoom probably the Falkirk player got the touch at the near post/ six yard box, (comment later), but his flick header is then met by our number 6 who instead of header out of play headed to keep the ball live. (commenting) for our two players to be beaten at the near post was poor defending the one already there had no idea what was happening around him and the one chasing does not shout or warn.

Our two players should not have been beaten to the ball, although with extra zoom the other teams player gets the head. he got there running from the middle of the area and heads just in from of our player who was static about where the six yard box joins the goal line. As I say they should not allowed him to either escape being marked or header in a zone controlled by our player. The centre half should only header to where he can see and turns his head to knock wide not out, schoolboy error.

I would also say there is issues with our defending for their first goal. Of our two players the one to attack the cross/ long ball should be the one that can see it coming not the one running backwards. Instead he holds off and that lack of contest allows the cross/ shot to occur. If our player going onto the ball contests the other can pick up second ball.

Now that's entirely different from having two chances to clear it, saying we shouldn't have been beaten to the ball. I don't think White should have gone for the ball as he was taken out of play and didn't get back in the danger area to help pick up players. As I said, Gallagher was left watching both Baird and Vaulks and not really covering either of them, and Cole was in no mans land doing nothing. There were numerous 'shouldn't have beens' leading to Vaulks scoring.

Didn't say he did have two chances to clear it...but he got his head to it and deliberately heads it away from goal but poorly so it doesn't go very far. All he had to do was direct the header behind, if in doubt put it out, concede the corner, regroup & defend the set piece.
