Energy Assets have terminated their sponsorship of Livingston FC. The deal, which was to run until the end of season 2015/16, has been ceased with immediate effect. Livingston FC have issued a statement and are now looking for a new main sponsor. Check out www.livingstonfc.co.uk for further details.

According to "The Sun" one of the reasons was Declan coming back to the club, it totally staggers me that we allow our main sponsor to pull out of the club when we are in the current financial plight.
It makes the question when we cannot get bums on seats for Glamour friendlies if the people of West Lothian actually want a football club, that it is a separate topic, but never the less the removal immediately of all signings and shirt sponsorship is yet another dark day in the history of this club.
Granted, there may be alternate opportunities out there especially with the big multi-nationals that have head offices actually in Livingston, but with no one actually "selling" the club, it is a huge task, and the problem being, no doubt they (LFC) WILL END UP GIVING IT AWAY ANYWAY.
Its so frustrating, I am sure amongst the season ticket holders we have a marketing manager, or someone who is business to business sales that may work for the club even on part-time /spare time basis to drive additional revenue into the club. Otherwise, we as supporters have to take the bull by the horns, and work towards as a proper supporters club / committee, with each member in that club / committee being tasked by bringing something to the table that will represent the future both on and of the playing surface. Yes we have Livi for life, but they just aint doing the business I am sorry to say.
I am sure that we could all drum up extra supporters, even as a canvassing exercise, where we door knock and ask the punters who live in West Lothian one very simple question "Why wont you support the club" I am sure on this exercise that, "the club" would allow us to discount season books or sell 6 monthly books at the door at a reduced rate just to get "bums on seats". Personally, if we sold 6 monthly tickets @ £50 or £60 lets get the people of West Lothian back supporting the club.
Local schools should be given a project on Livingston Football Club, with the best school being awarded 1000 season tickets 500 child / 500 adult, get them back to the stadium, let them buy the dominoes pizza, lets take the profit from catering. Outside vans at the stadium selling other food options prior to kick off, again the club able to benefit by selling them a "pitch".
Lets have "early bird" fan prices for away fans, if you buy your away ticket by say the Wednesday before the Saturday for Almondvale, we knock a fiver off the price, we encourage more away fans, we encourage bums on seats.
For those saying, "I have just paid x amount" for my season ticket, the question is what would you rather have? Empty stadium? or people being encouraged to come to the Vale. Remember we are or we now should be building the fan base for future generations.
We could do away games where, on route we have lunch pre-booked for fans wanting to travel to away grounds or some activity for families prior to the game, supporters nights at least once a month for all in the un-used Almondvale suite, we have the "early bird" deal in force with everyone in the championship we become respected for trying to look after others plus putting bums as I said on seats, if its repeated for us all well and good if not, that's not what it is about, its about building a community, a community that will last. It wont take much, just a few hours a week.
Our Motto to the club is simple, help us and we will help you put "bums on seats"
I hereby endith my lesson.

Can't see Declan as being the reason; for a start he has not been signed by the club yet as far as I am aware. Also they were aware he was at the club with a well publicised prosecution hanging over his head when they originally negotiated the deal. To be honest the Martindale issue might be more likely.
However you have to remember that Energy Assets have recently concluded a publicised takeover turning them into a UK national presence. The article on STV about McDougall starts off with something like "further financial chaos at the Energy Assets arena". People are going to remember the name ENERGY ASSETS linked with financial chaos and when the next sales call is going to be made about their Smart Metering the recipient isn't going to be very impressed.
Simple facts are that for a fast growing company they cannot be associated with financial irregularities in any sense.
Under the circumstances it appears that they have paid until the end of the season but requested their name to be removed from the stadium; the company are however continuing to support the youth system so someone at the business obviously wants to maintain the link; just not get their name splattered all over the papers etc.
The opportunity now is that the club can try to obtain another sponsor however the negative publicity received will undoubtedly make that more difficult particularly without a proper commercial department any more.

Must be true, it was according to the Sun.
Wonder if Domino's would be interested in sponsoring the stadium name, The Domino's Pizza Stadium.

Re-signing a convicted thug (he's in the team photo), employing a convicted drug dealer as first team coach, financially shafting our ex-chairman etc etc. They could have thrown the towel in for any number of reasons. It's a shambles down there.

So lets sum up Former chairman in process of suing club for monies owed under an earlier agreement. Club is unable to pay amount awarded to former shareholder/ director because of lack of funds Former player convicted of assault and given prison sentence but out on appeal and given training facilities at club Main sponsor pulls out dramatically but honours financial side of their contract until the due termination date. Fans who have purchased jerseys with sponsors name on them looked stuffed but club is willing to liaise with them ( over what) Oh and club is so strapped for cash the current board are advertising in the press for other directors to join who are able to contribute financially.
The football side of things always seems a side issue and you need patience and a failure to be surprised at any / every event which hits the news.
Before I take any more strong drink , have I missed anything out?
oh what, well remembered Mr A drugs peddler

They will have withdrawn the shirts with "Energy Assets" on them...the article on the club site mentions something about working with fans who have bought the top. The article also mentions that Energy Assets have paid up in full so by mutually agreeing to terminate we have not lost any money on the existing deal, further years were only optional at the end of this season.

Well on the playing side of things we have what looks like a decent young team and are into the 2nd round of the Petrofac cup, and are in with a good chance of reaching the 2nd round of the League cup this weekend too.

Re-signing a convicted thug (he's in the team photo), employing a convicted drug dealer as first team coach, financially shafting our ex-chairman etc etc. They could have thrown the towel in for any number of reasons. It's a shambles down there. Lets try some facts here - as far as I'm aware we haven't re-employed Gallagher; he has appeared in the team photo because Burchill said he would stand by him; strangely Burchill actually knows the guy and has worked with him so his perspective might be a little better than most. A "thug" by modern day interpretation is someone who is "a common criminal, who treats others violently and roughly"; he was involved in a fight but I am not aware of any other incidents involving violence against others? Martindale - as much as I think any involvement with the club is a mistake; as far as I am aware he is not employed as employed indicates that he is receiving a salary? He certainly wasn't last year. As for financially shafting the ex-chairman; he only became "ex" within the last few weeks; what happened to his payments for the last six months when he was chairman; why didn't he sort it then instead of signing more and more players? Also it is standard practice for all contracts to be sanctioned by the board of directors. Also both Martindale and Gallagher were involved with the club for a large chunk of last season; okay the revelations about Martindale only came out in the press about 6 months ago but the Gallagher prosecution was well publicised and its a bit odd to be all precious about it now. It should also be remembered that people aren't released on appeal willy-nilly; the law states: If a convicted defendant is sentenced to prison and seeks bail pending an appeal, the judge must also consider the merits of the appeal as well as the defendant’s risk of flight and dangerousness. Essentially, the judge must find by clear and convincing evidence that: 1. The defendant isn't likely to flee 2. The defendant isn't a danger to the community 3. The appeal isn't a delay tactic 4. The appeal raises a substantial question of law or fact likely to result in reversal, an order for a new trial, a reduced sentence or a sentence that doesn't include a prison term Point four is probably the most critical here; I might suggests holding back on the hot tar and pitchforks before the facts are known?
