Livingston manager Mark Burchill believes the club is at "the end of a mess" as he waits for the green light from the SFA to start signing players for next season.
The club has been under a registration embargo as punishment for owner Neil Rankine also having control of another league side – East Fife.
The embargo has prevented them bringing in new faces or even extending contracts for current players.
However the West Lothian outfit have now informed Scottish FA compliance officer Tony McGlennan that Rankine’s shares have been sold, and are waiting for the all-clear to start building a squad.
