John McGlynn says his Livingston side will need to be at their best to avoid Peterhead upsetLivingston boss John McGlynn says his team will need to be at the top of their game to clinch a Petrofac Training Cup semi-final berth when they take the long trip to Peterhead this weekend. The Lions have squeezed past lower league opposition already this season, having beaten Albion Rovers in the League Cup in Coatbridge and the manager is under no illusions as to the difficulty of the task his side face. He said: “Peterhead definitely won’t be pushovers. With no disrespect to Albion Rovers, they are probably a better team. “They’re in a higher division and have a bigger budget, so they absolutely won’t be pushovers. “They’re a very good side with decent players with the likes of Rory McAllister, Mark Millar and Jamie Stevenson who can cause problems. “We’ll certainly need to be fully prepared and play good football and take our chances if we’re to get through to the next round.” www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/john-mcglynn-says-livingston-side-4162763?

I laughed yesterday when somebody said that Gary glen couldn't hit a banjo with a cows arse! But seriously, he probably couldn't. And I'd have brought Hippolyte on a lot earlier too.

The best team won. On another day, we'd have scored 4 or 5. I guess in these ones, it's all about scraping through one way or another - just ask Falkirk...
I thought Dycey, Keaghan and White all had good games and it was great to see the Hippo come on and win us the game.
Into the semis!

Supersub Hippolyte proves Myles better for LivingstonStriker Myles Hippolyte was delighted to continue his “fantastic” scoring record as he once again stepped off the substitutes’ bench to fire Livingston into the Petrofac Training Cup semi-finals. The Lions were made to fight to the end of extra time against League One outfit Peterhead at Balmoor before the 19-year-old Londoner struck an angled shot into the far corner with just seven minutes remaining. The former Brentford player has now netted three Challenge Cup goals in as many rounds, on target in the emphatic second-round 4-1 victory over Hearts as well as the narrow win over Queen of the South in this season’s opener – all as a second-half substitute. The teenager, though, insisted he isn’t about to demand a starting berth from manager John McGlynn despite his latest heroics. “My scoring record in cup competitions, even at youth level, was fantastic,” Hippolyte stressed. “Coming on and scoring every time in this cup has been great but, at the same time, I would love to start. However, it’s the gaffer’s decision and I’m behind him with whatever he chooses. I have to respect that. “I feel the gaffer is right though in why he’s not playing me from the start at the moment because my defensive side of the game needs to pick up. But I’m still young and I’ve got time to learn.” www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/livingston/supersub-hippolyte-proves-myles-better-for-livingston-1-3534375

Late Livingston winner breaks Toon heartsThe drama in this cup tie came late in the game as Livingston snatched an extra time win, their chance creating deserved progress to the semi-finals A late piece of petulance from the experienced Andy Rodgers meant he saw red giving Manager Jim McInally a selection headache he could have done without. Mark Millar was still carrying an injury which saw him miss out, Dean Cowie started in his place in midfield with Rory McAllister returning after his suspension. Rodgers and David Cox started on the bench as did Ross Smith. Over the piece, this was a game full-timers Livingston should have won comfortablybut a combination of poor finishing and good goalkeeping from Graeme Smith saw the game head to an extra 30 minutes. www.buchanobserver.co.uk/sport/local-sport/late-livingston-winner-breaks-toon-hearts-1-3534571
