If you can call winning 4-1 "stumbling" - the 3-1 win over Croatia was a bit iffy & Mexico looked a better side in the 0-0 draw & they proved that was no fluke by matching the 3-1 win over Croatia without the assistance of dodgy decisions.
Would it be spontaneous combustion if it was as a result of Brazil winning the World Cup? Surely spontaneous combustion is bursting into flames for no apparent reason?

Fred.. what to say about that guy.
Its like when your mate is really good at football and you really want him to play for your team, but he'll only play if his dull, slow brother gets a game too..

Absolutely loving this world cup. Was good to see Neymar looking more like the player he's been hyped up to be last night - couple of good goals and didn't get involved with the Cameroon players despite their best attempts to kick him off the park.
Uruguay vs Italy should be a good game tonight. Italy in poll position and a draw suits them so Uruguay will have to take the game to them.
Can't see past Ivory Coast and Columbia doing the business tonight to see them both through to the next round too.

I've found these final group matches to be little dull.....then Chewy Suarez got his teeth into the game....or Chielini's shoulder anyway....& Yaya fluffs a shot in injury time to allow the Greeks to set up a Tragedy for the Cote D'Ivoire. Decent finish to both those matches but what goes through Suarez's mind to do such a stupid thing? The guy is a footballing genius but seems to be Sawny Bean's long lost cousin.

So far we've got -
Brazil vs Chile Columbia vs Uruguay
Holland vs Mexico Costa Rica vs Greece
France vs Nigeria
Argentina vs Switzerland
Still got the final 4 group games tonight which will likely see Germany and Belgium top their groups but any of the other 3 teams in both groups could still nick second place so lots to play for.
The boy Shaqiri at Switzerland looked excellent last night, banging in a hat-trick to go joint top of the scorers table with Neymar and Messi.

That Shakira can sing a bit too! But Suarez has got to be hammered for this latest bite. The man is an animal!

When did Angelo [spit] Massone become the Belgium manager?

When they offered him lotsa maaaneeee.
On paper, Holland have a decent run - Mexico then the winner of Costa Rica vs Greece. They've been really good so far so can see them skooshing through the semis.
Brazil vs Chile should be a beauty!

I think all the first named teams will win through to the quarters & then the big four that are left (Brazil, Holland, Argentina & Germany) will get to the semis with the Argentina & Germany getting to the final (to remain true to my original predictions)

So we're left with -
France vs Germany - 5pm Friday Brazil vs Columbia - 9pm Friday Argentina vs Belgium - 5pm Saturday Holland vs Costa Rica - 9pm Saturday
That Belgium/USA game last night was probably the best 0-0 I've ever seen. Real end to end stuff with both teams attacking at every opportunity. Did fancy Belgium to go on and win it in ET but even still, USA kept going and I really enjoyed the whole game.
France vs Germany is a tough one to call. France have looked like one of the stronger sides so far and Germany were pushed harder than they probably expected by Algeria.
Brazil vs Columbia is just as tough to call. Brazil haven't really got going and Columbia have been excellent but with a home crowd, I can just see Brazil stepping it up and getting through.
I can't see anything other than Holland notching a few goals vs Costa Rica - really reckon that Greece game might have taken everything out of them the other night.
Neither Argentina or Belgium have been as good as people probably expected but they've still got to this stage by winning every game they've played so fair play. I do think Messi might be the difference in this one though.
Gutted it's nearing an end!

Ouch - Neymar broke his back in Brazil's win last night so is out for the rest of the tournament. Bad news!

Could it be a ploy? Looked pretty tame at the time; could they be about to have a miracle recovery in time for the semi? Probably not but I am nothing if not cynical.
Brazil will be missing their captain & their talisman for the Germany game...I think my prediction of an Argentina v Germany final is looking pretty good right now

I see Brazil have appealed the yellow card given to Thiago Silva - interesting to hear the outcome of that.
Cracking semi-final line-up - Brazil vs Germany and Argentina vs Holland.

Put money on Germany EW before the tournament started so as long as they win the semi I get something. Would like them to beat the Dutch in the final too though

So looking back to my pre tournament predictions, I had Brazil vs Germany (Brazil win) and Argentina vs England (Argentina win) in the semi-finals. Miles away with the England shout but (probably like most other folk), called the other 3.
I do still fancy a Brazil vs Argentina final though. I think the whole 'lets do it for Neymar' thing might actually just spur Brazil on that wee bit extra!

I went for the four semi finalists that we have & Germany v Argentina in the final....I have a 100% record since the knock out rounds started...so Holland will probably stitch me up on Wednesday night

Brazil got no more than they deserved! Awful from front to back.
How on earth did they make the Semis?
Has Big Phil resigned yet? He was clueless, as we're his players. You big idiot from Chelsea being the worst offender!

Must confess that I'm now not so confident in Argentina maintaining my knock-out rounds prediction success on Sunday than I was a week ago.
