HEARTSHearts ace Callum Paterson: We are in much better nick than our Championship rivalsTHE Jambos are already looking forward to next season and, having emerged from their top flight baptism of fire, Callum Paterson says they are ready for the promotion battle.CALLUM PATERSON reckons Hearts are ready to hit the ground running after spending months preparing for life in the Championship. But the Jambos star believes city rivals Hibs will need time to adjust to the devastating way they ended up in Scotland’s second tier. Paterson is gearing up for an almighty scrap with Hibs and Rangers for the automatic ticket back to the Premiership. He said: “We’ve had the chance to reflect on it and look back on the season and we’re raring to go and prepared for it. “Hibs, on the other hand, aren’t going to be happy that they’re going down. “It was strange to see Hibs going down the way they did and it wasn’t good for them but it’s brilliant for us to have four derbies. They’ll boost attendances for both clubs and the Championship will be a good league. Then you throw Rangers into the mix as well as Livingston and Falkirk. www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/hearts-ace-callum-paterson-much-3611898

ALLOAThey've signed sriker David Weatherston from Stirling Albion. He was at Falkirk and QOTS in the past and I'm almost positive he banged in a couple of goals when QOTS hammered us 6-1 at Palmerston as few years back - spfl.co.uk/news/article/alloa-add-weatherston/

RANGERSGoram backs Boydy to score 30 goals if he signs for RangersThat was the prediction from Light Blues legend Andy Goram today as he looked ahead to the challenge that awaits his former club. Goram believes the second tier will be the most competitive league in Scottish football after Hibs joined Hearts and Rangers in it last month. And he would dearly like to see Boyd reunited with his old Gers strike partner Kenny Miller at Ibrox in the 2014/15 campaign. For "The Goalie" reckons the 30-year-old could supply the goals that mean Rangers win the Championship and a third consecutive promotion. Miller, who is a free agent after parting company with MLS club Vancouver Whitecaps, is keen to join his boyhood heroes for a third time. www.eveningtimes.co.uk/rangers/goram-backs-boydy-to-score-30-goals-if-he-signs-for-rangers-165753n.24374686

HIBERNIAN Proclaimer Charlie Reid joins fans’ campaign for changeDisgruntled Hibs fans have mobilised. Their guns are firmly trained on Rod Petrie. Spearheaded by former player Paul Kane and backed by the high-profile presence of Proclaimer Charlie Reid, the Petrie Out movement stepped up their bid to oust the under-fire Easter Road chairman in the Hibs Supporters’ Club at Sunnyside. At an emotion-charged meeting attended by representatives from the bulk of the most prominent Hibs fans’ groups, there were rousing and heartfelt speeches from various supporters about the current predicament of their club. The unanimous feeling among those in attendance – as evidenced by a show of hands against Petrie – was that the chairman who has overseen the club’s demise into the Championship had to fall on his sword. www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hibs/proclaimer-charlie-reid-joins-fans-campaign-for-change-1-3428542

Read online somewhere this morning that Kenny Miller is joining The Rangers - not sure if it's a done deal or still a rumour though. I wonder if anyone has told him it's not the same team he used to play for? :-)

ALLOAAlloa boss Barry Smith: Things are starting to take shape
Alloa’s squad for the new season is beginning to take shape after manager Barry Smith added two more key players to his confirmed list.Alloa’s squad for the new season is beginning to take shape after manager Barry Smith added two more key players to his confirmed list. The Wasps boss admits he had to move quickly to fill the void left by Scott Bain as he secured ex-Dundee keeper John Gibson despite the player having a number of other suitors after his signature. The manager then added to a busy week of transfer activity by tying down their in-demand defender Ben Gordon to a new deal and the gaffer reckons it is a real coup for the club to retain their influential defensive rock. Barry Smith told Advertiser Sport, “I am delighted to retain Ben Gordon for another season because he is a player who was well sought-after this summer. He has had interest from full-time clubs but I am just delighted that he has decided to remain with us because he is a winner. He has massive influence on the rest of the team and it is great signing for us. He is a leader who he leads by example on the park. “John is a good signing for us. He is a top young goalkeeper who I have worked with before at Dundee and I was delighted to be able to sign him again at Alloa. It was always my intention to add another goalkeeper to the squad when Scott Bain left but I had to move quickly for John with so many other clubs interested and we are delighted he has agreed to join. “We now have good competition between John and Craig McDowall for the number one jersey and it is vitally important that we have that.” www.alloaadvertiser.com/sport/alloaathletic/articles/2014/06/04/500284-alloa-boss-barry-smith-things-are-starting-to-take-shape

I heard on the radio that Ally McCoist will have a similar budget to last season and will be looking to strengthen his squad accordingly. And also that Hearts are due out of administration on Wednesday and they're immediate target is to win the Championship. Ours has got to be to simply stay in the league, one would imagine. Funs and games.

See another of our old boys will be lining up against us this season - goalkeeper Neil Alexander has signed for Hearts. www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/hearts-keeper-neil-alexander-left-3790884He was a brilliant young 'keeper when he was with us and I'll never forget his top drawer performance up in Aberdeen when Robbo's scored the only goal to knock them out when we were in the old 2nd division. Absolutely outstanding. He was at The Rangers when they won the 3rd division then spent last season at Crystal Palace.

I rather fancy The Rangers will go bust soon enough.
