Livingston Away - Match Preview

In the two previous games this season the West Lothian side have come out on top with two wins.

Back in late September on our last visit to Livingston things opened brightly with Kane Hemmings giving us the lead by a hat trick from Callum Fordyce along with further goals from Andy Barrowman and Mark Burchill saw the hosts run out 5-1 winners.

The return game at Central Park in December saw Hemmings give us a 2-0 lead but late goals from Marc McNulty and Barrowman saw Jimmy Nicholl’s first game back at the helm end in a 3-2 defeat.

Three players will be missing from the squad for the visit to West Lothian with both Kane Hemmings (hamstring) and Lewis Milne (ligaments) both injured while Kenny Adamson serves a one game suspension and misses out playing against his old side.

Win at Livi would boost Cowden ambitions

COWDENBEATH can get clear of the Championship relegation zone but the team needs to put on more performances like the one they turned on against Dundee. That was the view of the club’s manager and an influential player, after the game.

And Cowden can give themselves a real boost this Saturday by beating one of the teams around them, Livingston.

Manager Jimmy Nicholl was very pleased with the 2-0 success and told the Times, “That was a very assured performance.

“We defended superbly throughout and even losing Kane Hemmings with an injury early on, we still posed a real threat going forward. Jamie Stevenson went on and laid on both goals by linking well with Greg Stewart, so that was a big plus.

“We are still second bottom but the gap is narrowing and if we can maintain the consistency in performance of recent weeks we can achieve our goal.”

Normal midfielder, Stevenson, said that he had played regularly up front as youngster and he thoroughly enjoyed his role when Hemmings had to go off after only 12 minutes.

“It was just great to be part of such a good performance,” he said, “Yes we found ourselves under the cosh a bit at times in the game but they are one of the front runners in the table so that was to be expected, but we have good players here and if we can repeat that sort of show in the weeks ahead we will win a lot of games”.

Livi are four points ahead of Cowden so a win for the Blues at Almondvale this Saturday could push Cowdenbeath ever nearer to their goal.

However, striker Kane Hemmings had to go off with a hamstring strain on Saturday while midfielder Lewis Milne was injured in a tough tackle.

Both are stuggling to make it and are unlikely to be available while defender Kenny Adamson is suspended.

However, Rory McKeown did well against Dundee and will play on the left hand-side against Livi and look for Jamie Stevenson continuing as a frontman at Almondvale.
