I know we have dropped off doing these recently, but I'm really keen to get everyone's thoughts and feedback from our first game of 2014.
After not playing for over 2 months, against a side sitting top of the league, this was always going to be a tough game for us but I thought we coped superbly throughout the game. As I mentioned before kick off, to win this league, we need to go on another run like last year and we've started in the right way.
We're still the only team unbeaten in the league and it's in our own hands. What we need from you all now is what we got from you this time last year, as much availability as possible. Please do all you can lads to be available on Saturday mornings, having a big squad is what will win us this league again.
With regards to the game, I thought everyone was solid enough and there genuinely was no poor performances. A few stand outs for me were Darren Keith, Yorkie for his attacking play, Paul Miller and Dave.
MoTM:Yorkie caused them problems all day long up that wing and had a big part to play in a couple of the goals. He listened about crossing the ball on the ground, and it resulted in a goal. Well in mate. A huge mention to Dave also who notched up his 249th and 250th goals for GS on Saturday. Unbelievable stuff!!
Donkey:That fackin ref
Well done boys - it all starts here again!

Looked in control the whole game lads. Was an excellent effort from everyone, front to back.
MotM: Daz K. Organised everything. Kept an eye on the line at all times and was brave in every tackle. Meant I could do my job, drop back, sweep and cover the fullbacks.
Donkey. Hard pick. Tremendous effort from everyone both starting and coming on. Will say me for being late as usual.. but this time having to get changed outside and starting the game with numb feet because of it.

MotM - Slightly biased because I know how hard it can be but DCP gets it for me this week. Held the ball up well, was confident trying to make things happen, took his goal excellently and didn't shirk a tackle all game. For someone who usually plays in goals, he put in a shift and a half.
Could pick almost everyone out for a special mention for individual things this week. Bowman and Dougie done an excellent job of supporting the wide men, Mark and Daz had a solid display at CB, the wide men tore Motherwell apart and Tom & Daz in the middle won most of their own challenges whilst Tom was key in creating most of our chances.
Donkey - I'll go for a DCP/Tom combo for their talking boots!
Good, solid win lads - great way to start the year. 12 league wins to go...

That's all the Hamilton and kaisayr boys checking out who to watch for, mcginty I thoroughly enjoyed Saturdays game. There was always going to be slight difficulties with the pitch or fitness levels after the Christmas, both of which took there toll on me along with some of the other lads... What was excellent to see and be a part in was our style of play. At our level with er en always going to have some mistakes at various points, but if we spread the ball about to ease the pressure off at certain times, we really feel the benefit of it through our energy levels and movement. On Saturday we were able to attack on all three fronts, with graham and Tim making many cracking drives forward to open up chances. When that happens, we rip teams apart. I can't think of a game where we've been effective at attacking on more than one channel and not won a game. Motm: graham. Had a cracking game and caused them countless troubles. Donkey: the ref for getting in the way and ending.in tom's shoulder being taken for a stroll...

MotM - wee Danny, thought he had a fantastic game up front linking well with Dave. Took his goal really well too.
Donkey - Tom, for talking boots and dislocated shoulder.

MOTM DCP work hard, deserve red his goal and held the ball up well. Always forget he's a goalkeeper
Donkey I'll give to there boys on the side cause they thought tom was faking his shoulder at first!
