Raith gaffer Grant Murray only thinking about Livi challenge
RAITH ROVERS manager Grant Murray has not given up hope of catching the First Division’s pacesetters in the coming weeks, although he is looking no further than Saturday’s fixture at Livingston.
Despite being 11 points adrift of top pair Dunfermline and Morton and nine behind third-placed Partick Thistle following their 2-0 win over Airdrie at the weekend, it is not outwith the realms of possibility that Raith could claw back that deficit by stringing together a good run of results.

I reckon we should be looking to kick on after last weeks decent performance and turn this mob over.
Not saying a point would be the end of the world but three would keep us hanging on in there with the sides at the top.
Same starting XI, if possible.

Unfortunately it's part time status for me on Saturday so those LIVItv guys better do a cracking job of those highlights!
A couple of good showings at home in the past few weeks - wins against Falkirk, Dunfermline and a draw with Thistle isn't a bad record. In fact, looking back, we've only lost one game in our last ten and that was away to Partick at a time when they were flying. Raith hadn't won a game in their last six prior to last weeks win against Airdrie so they've been struggling for form a bit. They've got a big cup tie against Celtic in a couple of weeks and I'm hoping they'll have one eye on that with players not wanting to miss out with injuries or suspension.
They're above us by a point in the league so the carrot of moving up at least one place in the tabe is their with a win.
If we put in the same shift as the past few home games, we'll take all three. Keep the ball down, don't panic and make passes count. Hopefully Sparky's goal at the weekend gets his confidence back in full swing.

I wouldnt mind seeing Jordan morton starting against raith. He added a bit of bite and a direct approach against partick - was unlucky when he tried to go round the keeper and even more unlucky with his free kick. Id have him in instead of Iain russell.
The young boy that came on looked quite good aswell - did he not start a game earlier this season? Maybe Airdrie away? if Mcnulty hadnt scored, Id have suggested starting the young boy instead of him to give mcnulty a bit of a kick up the rear.

I'd say we really need to be beating teams like Raith Rovers if we want to be challenging at the top. Not sure we have the strength yet to really be a title contender but would certainly be nice to keep the home form going by securing 3 points.
Will need to keep an eye on that boy Graham who is sitting 3rd top goalscorer in the league with 10 goals. As LiviLion21 has already said, if we can get the ball down and pass it well, we can play any team in this division off the park. Hopefully with a bit more cutting edge this week.
I'm going for a 2-1 Livi win. Mcnulty double.

Will need to keep an eye on that boy Graham who is sitting 3rd top goalscorer in the league with 10 goals. 10 in the league and another 9 in the cups - 19 for the season already is a cracking return. Him and the boy Pat Clarke will be a handful but confident that, on their game, Mango and Jesus Christ Almighty Garcia Tena Lady (JCAGTL) are capable of doing the business there.

This looks like a tricky game and in a funny sort of way I am less confident of a good performance today than I was last week. Because Thistle play the way they do, we got a decent amount of space to work with against them, whereas Rovers will be much more stuffy. They've got a decent big striker Brian Graham that will be handful for Mango or Jesus too.

“The challenge for teams like us is to get into the top four where there’s potential to play the likes of Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen, and if you end up winning promotion, you’ll be better prepared for it.
“Had we been promoted two seasons ago we’d have gone up as cannon fodder, like Dundee have this season.
“This set-up gives you home and away games against teams from the bottom of the Premiership where you’ll be able to test your promotion credentials.
“It’s better than a one-off play-off game where, as we’ve discovered in the past, a whole season’s work can be blown apart by a goalkeeper throwing the ball into the back of his net.
“The proposals have got far more going for them than against, but there seems to be a lot of hysteria out there because it didn’t work in Austria.
“That’s not to say it can’t work here. The concern is that the benefits of it aren’t getting through to the ordinary fan.”
www.fifetoday.co.uk/sport/football/raith-rovers/raith-chairman-70-80-satisfied-with-league-reconstruction-plan-1-2733083 Is this a less than veiled put down of our goalie, Andy McNeil, by yon other Fife bawbag, Raith Rovers Hutton Turnbull? I really do hope we stuff them the morn! See you behind the goals.

Livingston 2-1 Raith RoversGreat to get it up the Rovers this afternoon and to shut up their wee numbnut band of fans! Get it round ye lads! We seriously dominated them for the majority of the game and even for a period in the 2nd half when they enjoyed a wee bit more of the ball, they did nothing with it. I thought Andy McNeil, yet again against Raith, had a right good game and was unlucky that the best save he made all afternoon was not further cleared by us allowing them to score (definitely onside). Would have been the icing on the cake if Jordan Morton had scored near the end. Would have been no less than we deserved. Man of the match for me was Jesus Christ Almighty. I'm still not sure exactly what I saw him do when he turned their guy inside out before crossing it for Mango to stroke home what turned out to be the winner?! Up to 4th now. 3 games in hand. Be interesting to hear LL21's thoughts on the match. Looking ahead, next week against Morton has surely now got to be our biggest game of the season so far! Win that and we're absolutely bang in the mix! Mon the Livi!

My thought too. I still cannot figure out how he did it. Magical though.

Livingston 2-1 Raith Rovers
Livingston moved above Raith Rovers into fourth place in Division One after Craig Barr's second-half strike secured a entertaining victory.
The home side took the lead just before the half-hour mark as Marc McNulty found Iain Russell in the area and the striker slotted into the bottom corner.

Livingston 2-1 Raith Rovers: Livi keep a hand in title race
Scorers: Livingston: Russell (29) Barr (49); Raith Rovers: Graham (34)
THIS richly entertaining encounter was a reminder that, for all the ruminations over league reconstruction and income redistribution, it ultimately is all about the game and whether clubs can put on a spectacle worthy of drawing supporters through the turnstiles.
Both these sides certainly did their utmost to do just that by being committed to passing the ball around in a constructive fashion and having an uninhibited go at one another. In the end, the three points gathered by Livingston maintained their interest in the First Division promotion race.

Livingston 2 Raith Rovers 1: Upwardly mobile
SUDDENLY, Livingston can cast their eyes upwards.
Having played just four games since the beginning of December, the West Lothian side had tumbled down the first division table. Now they are making up for lost time.
This win only moves Gareth Evans' side up one place, ahead of vanquished visitors Raith Rovers into fourth, but results elsewhere have afforded that move greater meaning.

Just watched the highlights - big thanks to the LIVItv guys on the quick turnaround - was choking to see them.
Strange to see us shoot towards the South stand in the first-half - was that Raith that opted for the switch?
Great link up play between McNulty and Russell for the first and then even better link up play between our centre halves for the second. Looks like we raced out the block - some amount of chances in the early stages.
Couldn't get a signal where I was so didn't know the score until later on last night - was delighted to hear we'd won and other results had went out way too. Looking forward to Cappielow next week!

The highlights barely show just how much better than them we were. That Jesus Chris Almighty gets better and better every time he plays! The only thing nervy about the game at all was the fact that we hadn't put it to bed near the end with only the one goal still in it. Their keeper made 5 or 6 (maybe more?) decent stops that on another day etc etc Hope we take this hot streak of form away to Morton next week!

"] Graham forces ball past hapless McNeil
Rovers lose at Livvy
The Rovers lined up unchanged and the Jags had ex-Rover back-up Andy McNeil in goals.
blah blah
This stirred Livvy’s drummer who like their fans had been silent until that point unlike the vocal and entertaining Rovers support.
blah blah
A ball in was cleared by the under pressure home defence but played back in again, Clarke’s first time drive deserved a goal but McNeil half blocked it before the ever deadly Graham reacted quickest putting rebound past the despairing keeper.
blah blah
The 2:1 score line was probably about right, McGurn showed why he’s seen off lesser keepers to keep the Raith gloves over the years
blah blah
The by far funniest moment came when Garcia Tena was slightly clipped and did three and a half rolls with pike to the amusement of all watching. After being so, erm, vigorous in some of his own challenges it was all the move embarrassing as shown by his team mates keenness to help him up and get on with the game. Despite his initial reaction Jesus made what appeared to be a miraculous recovery…
This is Raith's official match report on their website @ www.raithrovers.net This sort of drivel is surely only fit for a poorly written fanzine? Joke of a club!

Somebody at the club does need to have a wee quiet word with Jesus.
I thought his ankle had fallen off yesterday the way he was rolling about on the ground. It's not the first time either. I hate to see opposition players do it & therefore hate to see our own players do it too.

The Highlights are absolutely brilliant!! Best highlights package i've watched so far. Loving the 'behind the goal' replays as well, gives them a bit more class. Livi played some really nice stuff and can't complain at anyones performance. Thought Jesus Christ Almighty Garcia Tena Lady was by far the man of the match but noticeable perfomances from scougall and mcnulty as well. Pretty vital three points with other results going our way. Hopefully we can continue the form and take it to cappielow where another 3 points would do wonders for our hopes of a title challenge. Well done to all for a great performance and result!

P.S. That official match report is absolutely shocking from Raith. Should be ashamed of themselves for posting utter nonsense up. Would be embarrassed if our OS posted something of that quality up. Muppets.
