Draw for the next round is tomorrow - we'll be in the seeded pot.

The Draw for the Second Round of the Scottish League Cup will take place within Hampden Park Stadium on Wednesday, 7th August at 2.30pm.

The Second Round of this season's competition will be seeded and will involve the 15 winners from the First Round and the following clubs: Ross County, Dundee United, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock, Heart of Midlothian, St. Mirren and Dundee.

The final game of the round is tonight with Partick vs Ayr. If Partick win, our possible opponents will be - Airdrieonians, Montrose, Cowdenbeath, Dumbarton, Dunfermline, Forfar, Alloa, Queen of the South, Raith Rovers, Hamilton and Stranraer.

Would be good to avoid another first division team or Dunfermline and Airdrie since we played them last season so really any from Montrose, Forfar or Stranraer, preferably away.

If Ayr were to win tonight, it would mean Hamilton were seeded and Ayr would be added into the sides we can draw.

We get to go Almondvale plenty as it is so I like away ties in the cup. Wouldn't mind Airdrie away - relatively close and certainly winnable.

I'd normally fancy Stranraer or Montrose but with it being midweek, it'd be a half day from work effort plus you wouldn't be home 'til late on that night.

Airdrie or Cowdenbeath away please.

Dundee v Forfar Athletic
Dumbarton v Dundee United
Kilmarnock v Hamilton Academical

Partick Thistle v Cowdenbeath

Falkirk v Dunfermline Athletic

Couple of beauties there - Stranraer vs Ross County will be some trip for the County fans, Raith hosting Hearts and Falkirk vs Pars - 3 good ties.

Airdrie away isn't the best. Played them 4 times last season. Still, it's winnable if anything.

Airdrie to face Livingston in League Cup

Airdrieonians have been drawn to face SPFL Championship side Livingston in the second round of the League Cup.

The tie will be played at New Broomfield on Tuesday, August 27 or Wednesday, August 28.

History was made when the teams last met in April with Airdrie's Jordan Allan becoming the youngest player to feature in a first-team match in Britain.

He came on as a substitute at the age of 14 years and 189 days - beating the previous record set by Barnsley's Reuben Noble-Lazarus in 2008.

The Diamonds progressed to the second round of the cup after a thrilling 4-3 win over Stenhousemuir on Saturday.

Defender Grant Evans knows the Lions will be difficult opponents but feels his side have an opportunity to extend their run in the competition.

The 23-year-old said: "Being drawn at home always gives you a better chance as we will be performing in front of our own fans.

"Livingston will give us a hard game but we've every chance of going through. We will work hard and hopefully get a positive result."

More then happy with this draw. A decent surface for us to go and play football. We had a decent record against them last season and I think our squad has improved since then.

Huge game for the club though. Chances are if we win this, we'd be unseeded in the third round and have a chance of a big draw against a Premiership side that could bring in some much needed cash for the club. A home draw against the likes of Hearts or Hibs might even generate some TV interest.

Looking forward to this one - fingers crossed we do the business and get ourselves in the hat!

I hear what you're saying but a midweek tie at Airdrie doesn't exactly wet the appetite.

Win the game though and, as you say, things begin to get a bit more interesting.

Burke told Courier Sport: “It’s a tougher draw than we would have liked but that will spur us on.

“We will have a steely determination to make it into the next round as it’s a competition we want to do as well as we can in.

“I think Airdrie are a better side than they were last season and have a lot of experience in there now.”

Agree with him that it's a tough draw but when you consider we could have had the likes of Hamilton, Raith and Dunfermline, it could have been worse.
