Woke up to the news that 'Jimmy' Scott has returned to Livi on a one-year-deal. www.livingstonfc.co.uk/news/news_20130726_1.phpAnother of our youth products who went on to play up the leagues and I'm quite happy to see him back here. We do seem to have a good number of centre midfield players now though - Beaumont, Docherty, Downie, Jacobs, O'Brien, Scougall, McDonald and now Scott. Danny Denholm is the only 'wide' player I see in our squad list. In saying that, the tactic this season could be to have Talbot and Mampuya playing as wing backs and having an extra body in the middle - possibly playing a diamond type midfield with one holding, one behind the strikers and two normal central midfield men. Maybe something like - ...............McNulty..........Burchill................... .........................Scougall............................ Talbot.......Scott.............Jacobs........Mampuya .........................O'Brien............................ ..............Mensing.........Donaldson.................. ........................Jamieson.......................... Maybe not those players as such but the idea being that Talbot and Mampuya do the donkey work up and down the wings with O'Brien sitting in behind so if the other team attack, we still have three men at the back if the wing backs are caught up field? Anyway, welcome back Jimmy - here's to a successful season!

Only seen snippets of Jimmy since he left Livi but one thing that does stand out in my mind was Beanie ripping him apart in a pre-seaon friendly against Hibs a couple of seasons back. Ball was coming to Jimmy, Beanie shouted that it was his ball, Jimmy left it and Beanie collected the ball and fired in a 20 yarder. Here's the LIVItv highlights from the game I'm talking about - go to 1:30 for the goal. www.livingstonfc.co.uk/livitv/hibernian050711/livitv.phpStill, must have been doing something right to be playing in the SPL with both Hibs and Ross County. As mentioned, we do seem to have a fair few central midfield players but sure Richie and Mark must have a plan in mind. Welcome back Jimmy.

I see we have signed ANOTHER midfielder Kyle Wilkie. Is somebody converting to a striker?

On first impressions I think Jimmy will do a decent job for us. Generally I thought we struggled in midfield a wee bit yesterday, but Jimmy was the best of the players we had in that area.

Anyone remember why young Jimmy was shown the door, back in the day? Good to have the fella back, mind.

Did he not leave the club of his own accord when we got relegated from the SPL? Can't remember now to be honest. I know he ran into a bit of trouble at Hibs (breaking a team-mates jaw in training?) but I remember thinking it was a bit out of character from him.
