Cheers for that, Dave. Your 5th potential negative is very interesting indeed. I wonder what would happen in that instance? It can happen already with the current SPL split, can it not?

I think we all agree that change is required, not sure if this is the way having read LLD's post, awaiting the "I'll no be back if this happens" comments.

Correct Dov.
Change is required big time!
Personally I'm bored stiff with the current set-up. Let's give the proposals a try, if it doesn't work out then change it again.

What will these new multi leagues be called post split?
How many current 'blazers' will vote themselves out of a job when the SPL and SFL merge?
What exactly are the play off options that are on the table?
And what are the names of the members of The Ant Hill Mob?

'SFL clubs to discuss 12-12-18 league reconstruction plan' Quote, "...but more than half of the clubs in Division One indicated to BBC Scotland that they support the idea in principle." Quote, "Some people want a 10-club league and some people want a 16, and we go on and on. "I think the most important thing just now is to get the framework right and if we get the framework right, we can worry about the actual league structure as a secondary issue. "The framework is a fairer distribution, more opportunities for promotion than relegation and I think the new governance structure is essential because if we don't have the new governance structure, we'll be left forever with the 11-1 [majority] vote [needed] in the SPL and nothing will happen. "If it turns out that this is a bad model and the fans don't like it and the clubs don't like it, we can change it. But once we've got one new governance model, it'll be a damn sight easier to change than it will be today." www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20969616

Indeed. Also this linked to it: 'Outspoken Raith Rovers chairman Turnbull Hutton has given his backing to new plans for Scottish football.' Quote, "Does the financial picture look a lot brighter now? Absolutely. Without quoting numbers, the indicative numbers would make one hell of a difference to a club like ours." Hutton claims strict rules on stadium capacities and under-soil heating may be relaxed, taking another cash burden off of the shoulders of hard-pressed clubs. sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/raith-rovers/209079-turnbull-hutton-backs-reconstruction-plans-as-great-for-sfl-clubs/

By the sounds of things, the money on offer might be enough to sway clubs. It will be interesting to see how much Turnbull Hutton is talking about when more details are announced. Overall I am fairly relaxed about the new ideas. At the end of the day it's probably worth trying something different. If it doesn't work it can be changed again.
