Quarter-final day at Wimbledon - Andy Murray up against Fernando Verdasco (approx 4pm).
Having come this far and seen other big names like Federer, Nadal and Tsongo drop out so early, could this be his year?
Without jumping the gun, if everything goes how it should on paper, he'd come against Djokovic in the final and that's as tough as they come. But since losing in the final last year, Murray's went on to win Gold at the Olympics and won the US Open so would be going in as confident as he's ever been.
Hope he does it this year!

Is this the year that the torn faced Hibby finally cracks a smile?

There was actually a decent wee documentary on about him last week. I've never been his biggest fan but always been happy to see him do well - definitely felt I was more 'in his corner' after watching it though, which was probably the whole idea behind getting it on just before Wimbledon started.
The full, hour-long thing can be watched via YouTube.

Might just watch that. A cannie be doing with his auld dear though. She should just let the guy get on himself without hanging about like a bad smell everywhere he goes.

That's del Potro and Djokovic both through to play each other in the semi-finals. Del Potro had a bad fall during his match and looked like he might have to chuck it but fought on and won.
Murray's match is up next - can get it on the BBC sport website. If Andy wins, he'll play the winner of Kubot vs Janowicz which is also due to start soon.

I was much the same about his mum but she doesn't come across quite so bad in the programme. On the court, Murray's just lost the first set 6-4. Second set just starting.

Certainly made hard work of that. Some bottle to come back from 2 sets down to clinch it though. Verdasco has some power behind him - he's got a left arm like Roberto Carlos's left leg!
He'll need to get some rest today - semi final tomorrow. Janowicz won his 1/4 final in 3 sets so wasn't worked quite as hard as Murray. Still, he's 24th seed so you'd have to back Andy to do the business and get to the final. Djokovic has it a bit tougher (seed wise) against 8th seed Del Potro who knocked out Ferrer in straight sets yesterday. Be good if that went the full 5 sets to try and tire Djok out a bit but that guy looks like a machine - don't think he's ever broke sweat playing tennis!

I, like I imagine most others, thought he was a goner when Verdasco won the second set. Brilliant to see him raise his game and fight back into it though. Could see him getting frustrated at times but he managed to get the job done - eventually!
Looking forward to the match tomorrow - Come on Andy!!!

This Djokovic vs Del Potro match is superb! 2 sets all and just into the 5th set. Absolute beauty of a tie breaker just played for the 4th set - DP saved 2 match points to go on and win the set.
Currently 1-1 in the 5th.
Murray on after this - BBC1.

Andy is 1 set up and the commentator has just said that he's never won against Djokovic after winning the first set in any game against him. Grrrrr! Come on Andy!

I have to admit that it was fantastic to see the dour Hibby sod finally win Wimbledon. Well done to him! Just think, next year it will be 78 years since an Englishman last won Wimbledon.

Well deserved too - he was superb! Even when Djokovic did break him, it was head down and fight on to win the break back.
Good stuff!
