Anyone been watching this so far? I've managed to see four games to date and there's been some cracking goals on show.
Brazil 3-0 Japan Italy 2-1 Mexico
Spain 2-1 Uruguay Nigeria 6-1 Tahiti
Neymar opened the campaign with a rasper for Brazil only three minutes into their game against Japan then both Pirlo and Suarez scored superb free-kicks in their games on Sunday.
Last night was a strange one. Tahiti who are made up of amateur players were pumped by Nigeria. It was 6-1 but could easily have been double figures had Nigeria been up for it. At 3-0 though, Tahiti scored and you'd ahve thought they'd won the World Cup - brilliant celebrations from a team obviously just happy to be there. However, they play Spain on Thursday night and there's a lot of chat that Australia's 31-0 record win over American Samoa may be under threat
That Australia win seen Archie Thompson break the record for most goals by one player in an International game by scoring 13. I wonder if the like of Torres, Mata, Soldado and co are looking at that with the thought of breaking it come Thursday!

Italy vs Japan - game of the tournament last night. Japan were 2-0 up before Italy grabbed a goal just before half-time. Into the second half and Italy scored two early on to go 3-2 up. Japan equalised and hit the woodwork three times before Italy grabbed an 87th minute winner to seal a 4-3 win.
End to end stuff - 7 goals, two penalties, woodwork rattled - cracking game to watch.
So that means Brazil and Italy are through and Japan and Mexico are out.
Spain vs Tahiti (8pm) and Uruguay vs Nigeria tonight (11pm).

Arbroath's record was never threatened, Spain are rubbish! Australia have the record international win from their last stint in Oceania which is why they got "transferred" to Asia. Can't remember what it is though

Just checked....they beat American Samoa 31-0. 3 players got hat tricks.....one of them went on to bag 13 himself, another got 8 so 21 of the 31 were scored by 2 players, 24 by 3 players, 3 more bagged doubles & one guy only got 1.

Great save by Cesar from Forlan's penalty....Brazil's toughest game so far; Spain beat Uruguay 2-1 in the group stages & it was a slaughter despite the close score line. Just saw the possession stats & apparently Brazil have had 67%......surprised by that as Uruguay seems to have the edge early on.

Pretty poor game so far & Fred nicks a scruffy goal to put Brazil ahead

Brazil win through in the end. Not too convincing though. If Spain turn over the eyeties tomorrow night you'd have to expect them to pump this Brazil team come Sunday night.

So it's Spain v Brazil after all. A pretty decent 0-0 draw followed by 7-6 win on pens for the Spanish. If this keeps up I might even begin to get excited about the new season.

The 12 penalties to get it to 6-6 were outstanding. Up against two of the best keepers in the world and gave them no chance with any - superb.
Looking forward to the final now. Neither Brazil or Spain looked great in the semis so both will be looking to up it. Home advantage might just give Brazil the edge.

Along with the extra day's rest & the punishing 120 minutes plus pens in the excruciating heat on Thursday

Interesting that Brazil played Spain the same way that teams would play us when we tried the Barce way; closing down the space, pressurising the ball carrier, tight defence & quick counter attack....& wiped the floor with them. Just like Accies did to us last season in the first of the home double headers.

Think they said it was the first time in 30 games or so that Spain had lost. They looked really jaded in the game against Italy and I fancied Brazil to do the business but didn't see it being quite as emphatic as it was.
I've never seen enough of Neymar to beleive the hype around him but think he had a superb tournament and could form a frightening front pairing with Messi at Barca next season.
Was also good to see Hansen getting found out for the twat he is - banged on about Brazil's striker Fred not being up to much then within 90 seconds of kick-off, he'd scored and then went on to grab a second.

Anyone old enough to remember Hansen bumping into Willie Miller, knocking them both to the ground during the Scotland v USSR match at Spain '82, will know that the pompous windbag was found out a long, long time ago.
Anyway, been away camping for a few days so didn't get to see the final (it wasn't even on the radio either!).
Looks like Barzil were well worth their win from these highlights!

Yep, they thoroughly deserved the win. They outplayed, outmuscled & outscored a Spain side that wasn't a patch on their capabilities.....but I didn't think Del Bosque picked the right players. Arbeloa & Pedro were outclassed & having said that Pedro should have scored (Luiz made a fantastic clearance but he shouldn't have been able to get close). I'd have had Fabregas on for at least some of the game but he didn't get a sniff.

Oh...and the tone was set from the national anthems.....Brazil's entire team belted it out with the crowd & the noise was incredible
