Bizarre. Was only a few weeks back that the OS announced he'd signed a pre-contract agreement with us?
Was looking forward to seeing him and Burchill link up together too.
I'm sure Richie Brittain will be keeping an eye on developments with this one!

Isn't there an SFA rule saying you can't sign a PCA for someone the sign for someone else? Sure Richie Brittain had an issue with this earlier on this season with St Johnstone?

I'm less concerned about Richie Brittain and his contract problems than I am with us seemingly announcing a done deal for the boy Elliot and then it's all change all of a sudden.
Have we been shafted, did we get it wrong in the first instance or maybe we've changed our minds and telt the lad to do one? [shrugs]

There must be a story somewhere, either Livi did not have the paperwork done correctly or there has been an agreement between all parties, looks more like Livi muck up at this time though, interesting when it comes out.

Livingston and Raith Rovers lay claim to striker
Livingston are to challenge Raith Rovers' claim that they have signed former Scotland Under-21 striker Calum Elliot on a one-year contract.
The West Lothian club had announced on 29 April that they entered into a pre-contract agreement with the player.
"In view of this, we will seek clarification from both the player and Raith Rovers as a matter of urgency," said a Livingston statement. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22777323It appears that as far as Livi are concerned, the pre-contract was signed and it looks as if that contract has been breached.

He's going to get a lot of hate from the crowd and I don't blame anyone for having a go at him.

Surely if he ends up with us, our own fans aren't going to give our own players 'a lot of hate'?

I don't expect him to get a lot of hate but if its true that he signed a ore-contract agreement with us then decided that he would rather be somewhere else. You won't expect him to get too much love either

I just think after helping put the pars down he would have one of the fans favourites. Now I feel that he has to earn our respect back for him to be fully accepted

Raith are not squeaky clean in the either - Wonder what Turnbull will mouth off about this situation?

Its not a case of being squeeky clean. There are rules, like them or loath them, that allows players to be approached whilst still under contract, just like Livingston used to approach Elliot when he was playing with Alloa. Some might say this is wrong but this is the rules. By the same token there are rules to follow with regards to pre contract issues and again like them or loath them they are there to be used and abused. If Livingston have in some way not followed these rules to the letter, or if these rules in some way mean that Elliot was still free to sign for another club and Raith were looking for such a player then Raith are more than entitled to try and sign him. Raith were caught out similarly with Paul McManus a few years ago and after him signing for us there was a problem with the form and he was asked to sign a new form but East Fife took the opportunity to jump in and sign him up. McManus was called every name under the sun and still so but all East Fife done was sign a player who was free to do so irrespective of the circumstances. Similarly in this case if it turns out that Elliot was free to sign for who ever he wanted then all blame should be on him, Raith have just signed a player who they were entitled to sign irrespective of the circumstances.

Livingston and Raith at loggerheads over Elliot
LIVINGSTON FC and Raith Rovers are in dispute over the signing of former Hearts striker Calum Elliot.
Livi announced on April 29 they that they had signed the player for the 2013/14 season on a pre-contract agreement, with the player due to arrive following the expiration of his short-term deal at Alloa.
Elliot had joined the Wasps in February on a short-term contract after leaving Lithuanian club Zalgiris Vilnius.
However, Rovers yesterday issued an official statement saying: “We are delighted to announce the capture of former Scotland Under-20 and 21 international striker Calum Elliot on a 12-month contract following his release at the end of the season by Alloa Athletic. Everyone at Stark’s Park welcomes Calum.”

Livingston expect Raith Rovers to 'act honourably' over Calum Elliot
Livingston have called on Raith Rovers to act "honourably" after Calum Elliot agreed to join both clubs.
The former Hearts striker agreed to join Livingston on a one-year deal for the 2013/14 season on April 29.
The West Lothian side claim Elliot has signed both documents required to join them, putting pen to paper on his registration form and contract.
Raith Rovers however announced on Tuesday they had reached an agreement with the 26-year-old on a similar deal.
STV understands Elliot has not informed Livingston of his reasons for signing with Raith Rovers.

Callum Elliot looks raring to go for Raith Rovers
Raith Rovers have confirmed the signing of former Scotland under-21 striker Calum Elliot on a year-long contract — although Livingston may yet have something to say about the move.
The 26-year-old forward, who was also an international at under-20 level, was released by newly-promoted Alloa Athletic at the end of the season but Rovers manager Grant Murray has quickly swooped to snap Elliot up on a 12-month deal.
It had been thought Elliot had agreed a deal to sign with First Division rivals Livingston, with the Almondvale club stating back in April a pre-contract agreement had been “completed”.
However, Rovers announced the former Hearts striker has, in fact, signed on the dotted line for them for the new season.
Rovers officials have checked with the SFL and have been assured Elliot was a free agent following his release from Alloa. Whether or not Livi will wish to chase up the matter remains to be seen but Raith appear content Elliot is their player.

Raith comment from Eric Drysdale
Drysdale told BBC Scotland that he hoped there would be no bad blood between the clubs over the confusing episode.
And the Rovers chief executive also thinks a simple rule change would avoid any further registration issues.
"Contractually, we are in the right position here and there's been an unfortunate sequence of events," he said.
"Livingston seem to be disadvantaged by that and we're sorry but, at the end of the day, it's football rules that have to be applied consistently across the board and that's what we're trying to work with."

Elliot should be banned for 6 months - probably driven by a few quid more.

He should be banned for however long a deal he agreed with us. Ged claims he not only signed a pre-contract but also the actual contract & registration forms, these can't be lodged with the league until the window opens, so it could be a case of who faxes first! But to my way of thinking if he has signed anything contractual with us it should be binding.....but do we want him now?
