Hearts future grows more uncertain amid UBIG insolvency reports
Reports in Lithuania stated that UBIG had, at its own request, been placed on a list of companies unable or unwilling to meet its obligations.
UBIG was today named at the top of a list of companies on the Lithuanian Ministry of Economy's department of enterprise bankruptcy management website.
UBIG controls about four-fifths of Hearts' shares and is owed about £10million of the club's debt. A further £15million of debt is owed to Ukio Bankas, which was recently declared bankrupt, although the bank has launched an appeal.
Hearts yesterday said they were unconcerned by reports surrounding the effects of the collapse of Ukio Bankas but it is unclear what the latest development will mean for the Clydesdale Bank Premier League club's trading ability.

Hearts poised to learn SPL status at Monday meeting
Hearts could learn on Monday morning if their Scottish Premier League status has been retained, immediately prior to the club’s expected participation in an SPL vote to push through league reconstruction plans.
As the threat of relegation haunts Hearts, they received words of support from Celtic manager Neil Lennon, who said losing the Tynecastle team from the top flight would be the “last thing” Scottish football needs.
An SPL board meeting has been scheduled at Hampden Park for 9am, when the governing body’s lawyers will attempt to explain the details surrounding Hearts’ labyrinthine financial plight in the wake of Ukio Banko Investicine Grupe’s [UBIG] request to be declared insolvent in Lithuania.

Since its the end of the season today that means that hearts won't be deducted points at the meeting held on Monday. That means that the jambos won't be playingin the first division next season. However, if there Is a chance that they can't be a team next season they will (or atleast should)be placed into div 3. That's what happened to us and rangers

That's what happened to us and rangers If the SPL board rule that the insolvency event occurred during the season then they would quite rightly have their points deducted from this season's total. That's my interpretation of it, by all accounts UBIG own Hearts and as such they should be subject to punishment.

One could argue that if the bank that a club owes money to hits financial trouble means the club should be punished, then anyone who banked with HBoS and RBS when they were bailed out by the tax payers should have been punished too

I think sporting integrity went out the window when they saw average attendances of the SPL down 28% with Rangers gone and about to drop further if Hearts fall.

Some say that the game is just one big cheat fest anyway. Examples of which would be people indicating to the ref that a card is needed for a foul, appealing for a ball they knew went out from them, gaining yardage at free kicks and throw ins, the list is endless. Then we have supporters so biased that repeat the initiation of cheating from the field into the stands. Then we have managers trying to influence the game as excelled with by "Fergie time" I would agree that it was / is cheating and does the game no good what so ever.

Didn't think it needed a thread of it's own but I'll tell you what - if Hearts weren't doing enough to show what sort of a shambles those Edinburgh mobbs are, Hibs certainly sealed the deal last night. Haha!

Do you believe we cheated to finish 3rd in the SPL, qualify for Europe, stay in the SPL & win the League Cup?

Of course we did - and we've since paid the price.

Hmmm....but we haven't had that CIS Cup Winners 2004 title stripped from us so technically we haven't been punished for cheating to win the cup.
How many teams have NOT cheated to win things over the years? (Presumably anyone who has spent more than their income to achieve success has cheated?)

Could it be that they've not paid us our share of the gate money from the League Cup tie at Tynecastle?
