Apart from the DBM, why do none of YOU sing? I am just curious.

I wish more folk sang more normal songs rather than some of the so called songs that get sung at Livi games. Some of them are just like a dirge with little or no tune. The main problem I think with this DBM lot is that they are not very welcoming it seems. For some reason it's like they think the world is against them but really they are just a bunch of younf lads shouting and swearing and singing/shouting now and again. Not really too bothered about joning in and getting labelled as one of there numbers. To be honest though I'm comfortable going to the games when and where I can without having some spotty youth telling me how to behave and what to sing. Each to there own I say.

I've only recently started joining in with the DBM. And I've seen new folk every game and they are welcomed. And what's wrong with the songs. The songs are the same as what they have always been. Aye few swear but it's a football game, get over it. The DBM love and support their club and aren't afraid to show it. The rest of you lot need to get off your arses and make an attempt. Even when we score there is no singing just some clapping and a "well done" or "good goal". I've supported livi my whole life and always will. And I've seen the fans get worse and worse throughout the years. Star making an attempt to support the club verbally cause it just makes us look like a shite club pensioners in the stands

I'm more interested in getting more folk to support the club than whether or not some of our current supporters sing songs.
You want to sing a song? That's fine. Sing till your lungs burst.
You don't want to sing a song? That's fine too.
It's a non issue, if you ask me.

How do you expect people start supporting the club when there is nothing to attract them to the games. We are a rubbish team with rubbish fans with high prices. Getting to the games is not a problem as its next yo the centre and you can get a bus. But who wants to go watch a crap first division team play when they can watch a Bpl team play in their house on the tv. They need to be attracted and sitting about watching teenagers play isn't going to do that.

I suggest that before we all commit to abusing our opponents in coordinated verse we actaully ask lapsed and potential support what they would like. But maybe the empty seats throught Scotland with their lack of women and children says it all. Trust me it brings more of a smile to my face if a bit of intelligence is used and the witty banter or song is completed without reverting to anglo saxon and I dont have to cover the ears of my Son.

Fair enough some of the songs aren't as family friendly as what they used to be but there are still chants that are the same and don't swear that everyone can join in with.

The nail in the coffin for chanting was when the self appointed singing section moved to the far corner of the stadium (Section T?) which left less people singing in the West Stand and inevitably things went a bit quiet
Even now the chanting is contained to one corner of the stand, so perhaps if the more vocal fans were to spread themselves out a bit others may be tempted to join in, as most of the time people at the opposite end of the stand can't make out what they are saying

I suggest that the more family friendly and more accessable you make the songs the more successful you will be at getting people to join in. Look at the success of gangland style song over christmas. Easy to learn non offensive and brooched barriers. Give a go and see.

Folk saying that the DBM don't seem very welcoming, are folk who don't know them, or haven't stood with them. It's a few years since I stood with them, granted, but they are/were as welcoming a bunch of guys as you're likely to meet.
The arguments around why our support are quiet, can't be summed up quickly. Factors like how big the stadium is compared to our numbers, even what Livingston as a PLACE is like, contribute, in my opinion.
Pedro is right though. If you want to sing - sing. Give it large. If you want to be contemplative - knock yerself out.

I understand people don't wont to sing. But when I watch games on T.V with the whole crowd chanting on their team or certain individuals. It makes me really frustrated that our club can't be like that.

It makes me really frustrated that our club can't be like that. Do not be frustrated be innovative.... Print off some song sheets so everyone knows the words and hand them out at the turnstiles before the game. Try every song that is on the sheet and assess the involvement of the crowd, repeat those that are more successful. At half time take time to talk to others in the tea queue and see if they have preferences for songs to sing or how to get them to join in. Spread yourselves out in smaller groups throughout the whole crowd so to seed more voices and give more chance for others to join in. Issue spot prizes to kids for joining in such as sweets. There are many many ways forward.

mozam.... We dont all have the intentions of silver haired men in bad tracksuits. Some of us still try to uphold a Corinthian ethic. They could throw the sweets once they have carried out required safety protocols...(written permission in advance, soft sweets only, under arm throws and catching mits. )
