Confirmed by Livi - www.livingstonfc.co.uk/news/news_20130325_1.phpI think Burchill coming in caught everyone by surprise - out of the four mentioned last week, think he was bottom of the list in most folks eyes. Burke's been with us a while now and there looks to be a good bond between him and the players already. He's been here from the start of the Hughes/Collins era and appears to be of the same ethos of them in terms of getting the ball down and playing a good, passing game. Looks like Burchill will be learning his trade under Burke to an extent, as well as using his experience from playing abroad to offer another option. He was always a tricky player when playing against us so hopefully he gives us something else on an attacking front on the pitch too. This season is all but done. Hopefully the guys can push on and secure 3rd place (2 places higher than we finished last season) aswell as getting the ball rolling on the contract front. I think the appointment of Burke might go a long way to convincing some of our current squad to stay at Livi too. Welcome aboard chaps - onwards and upwards starting with three points on Wednesday night please :-)

Not an inspired choice IMO, but none the less they are in situ & lets see what they are made off. With 3rd place almost in the bag it will be about the team they can put together for next year.
After Saturday Burke needs to work his magic after coming off a 6-1 defeat to ensure we bounce right back on Wednesday especially after Hamilton got a good win as well.

Livingston appoint Richie Burke & Mark Burchill as management team
Livingston have appointed Richie Burke and Mark Burchill as their new management team.
Burke has been caretaker boss since Gareth Evans left the club in February, while Burchill has been playing club football in Thailand.
Former Celtic striker Burchill will combine his assistant manager role with playing for the West Lothian club.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for me," he said.
Livingston chief executive Ged Nixon expressed delight at securing the club's new management team.
"We see them as the ideal candidates to take forward our hopes and aspirations for the future - to develop our own quality young players and deliver an attractive and successful team at first team level," said Nixon.

Link below also contains a decent video interview with both Richie Burke and Mark Burchill
New Livingston boss Richie Burke eyes a return to SPL prominence
Richie Burke wants to turn Livingston into an SPL force after being handed the reigns full-time.
The former assistant to ex-boss Gareth Evans takes charge at the West Lothian outfit with Mark Burchill as his assistant.
The pair have been handed contracts until 2015 and Burke, who plied his trade in the USA following spells at Liverpool and Everton as a youngster, is targeting a return to top league over the next two years.
He said: "I’d like us to be an SPL team with a prominent force.
"Our job is to promote this club as best we can, get it recognised, especially for the aesthetic style of play, and try and get some trophies in the cabinet.
"We need to make this a football club that the region can be proud of and get spectators on seats, enjoying and supporting the club."

Stability, plus a new name to the management game to provide some fresh, new ideas.
Happy with that, beats McGylnn or another old name coming on board for me.
Hopefully Burchill can do something to create a link with St Margaret's for cheap/free tickets and to generally raise the profile of the club. There'll be a couple of old friends still there for him to chat to.

Nah. Let's throw this cheap and free ticket idea right out the window. Set the prices reasonably and just leave them. Stop mucking them about. If they're too high then change it. And £17 quid is too high.
I'd make the prices 15 quid for an adult, a tenner for students, OAP's, the unemployed and the armed forces and 7 for bairns in primary school. I'd have a father and son gate for twenty quid too, which gives a saving of 2 pound. Everybody's happy.
All tickets could be bought from a portacabin on a matchday prior to entering the ground, just like they do already at several grounds.
Fair prices for all! When do we want then? Now!! ;D
Anyway, good luck to Richie and Mark! With some in oor support, they're gonnie need it.

Livingston dare to dream
THEY strolled into the press conference together, stood
together on the training pitch and generally demonstrated a rapport which Livingston Football Club hope can underpin their future.
Richie Burke and Mark Burchill, the club’s new management team, are firmly in sync and already plotting
a course to the Scottish
Premier League in time for next summer.
The pair were appointed yesterday on two-year contracts and instantly targeted the SPL as their aim. Neither of them intends to wait around, either. They will complete this season hoping to keep Livingston in their current position of third in the First Division. Thereafter, promotion is the aim, although not if their philosophy to promote an attractive brand of technical football needs
compromised.

Don't think Burchill will make a big difference and things will remain relatively the same IMO... Which isn't a bad thing. Glad we stuck with Burke. Good chance for Burchill to learn the management side of things though. Anyone know what his role was In Thailand? Wonder if he's still a handy player, only 32.

I am sure that Mark is still a handy player at 32. In my opinion he will be head and shoulders above any other striker in the league next season if he stays injury free.
He has also completed at least the first part of his UEFA coaching licence and is keen. Remember he has great experience gained at different clubs and countries.
Lets give the two of them all the chance in the world. If there is one thing we need is stability and an attitude of lets get in about it.
I agree that Richie Burke is a good appointment and the pair of them might just be the ones to take us back to the SPL (seriously)

I wonder if he'll mibbe get a start today at Dumbarton? Would be interesting to see how he plays and how that will shake things up between the front players.

Apparently Livi have done all they can in terms of getting him registered - just need to wait on the SFA and Thailand FA confirming it all.
Glad the pair have their first win under their belt now though - onwards and upwards!

Maybe not a bad thing this delay. Chance for him to get fitness up in training and get to know teammates while some of the younger boys have got some game time - mullen and lander especially.
