Another game off today and it's absolutely doing my box in! Surely it's time for the SFL to look at summer football or at least a winter break? I go pretty much every week but it's the people who don't that are the problem and sometimes I don't blame them for not turning up when it's sub zero or pissing with rain. The club did their best the other day with the cheap price for the Hamilton game but then it pours with rain and the games off? Try and play in the summer and there's less chance of that happening, though it wouldn't be guaranteed obviously.

I m not really sure what the answer is tbh. For instance if we were playing last June then it's likely that most of our Ames would ave been off too.
I'd agree we need to try something, but just not sure it's summer football???

With the weather we get there will always be some games off, that's Scottish weather for you, but there would be less if we played through the summer for definite. Our crowds are embarrassing on a Tuesday night after games get called off, but maybe if that Tuesday game was in May or June it would be easier to get people to come along. I think something needs to change - the last few years we've hardly had a game on at this time of the season

What do we think the real options are here for an alternative to the current league set up?

The Irish leagues have done well out of starting their season in February and finishing up in October so that's worth a look. You could do a winter break instead but I'm not sure how that would work. Either way I think this is the time of year to avoid because the weather is usually mince and most folk are skint with Christmas expenses. I thought the clubs £5 thing was a great idea for that reason. Most of the folk I know don't have £17 or whatever spare to pay into a game right after buying Christmas pressies and going on nights out etc.

I think there is another debate to be had on the price of football - just far to expensive, but any way that's another topic.
If there is going to be league reconstruction soon then maybe nows the time to look at when football is actually played. If its a summer league maybe play cup games during July rather than league games & then if people are on holiday they are not missing out if they've bought a season ticket?
Yeh, the clubs offer was good for the Hamilton game & well timed think Dave Stoker played a big part in that. One of the upsides of having a fan close to the centre of the club.

The Irish leagues have their season in February and finishing up in October I'd lift this option lock, stock and barrel. Tenner a head for everyone to get in. No faffing around. Woosh. Ten spot and yer in.

Plenty of time for high temperature bovine based food and drinks in February and November. And March, and October. Also April and September. Probably May and August too. When are the warm months in Scotland again?

Short of switching to an indoor league then the weather is always going to play its part no matter when you run the season, but the chances of a more sellable product to TV companies with a better deal for fans if gates were reduced would be a win win.
Also, if we played through the summer then there would be the prospect of clubs perhaps being able to nab rising stars or players in need of match fitness from Engerland which could help attract more interest from further afield

I'd run it in line with the Stockcar season! March - November!
