Is he the right man for the Lions? No. If he was appointed it would set our playing style back by years. I'm sure the morons amongst our support who swear by hoofball would be chuffed to bits, though.

He does have a reputation for working well with youth, so that will obviously count in his favour, but.............
I can't help remembering that when he left Raith Rovers to take on the Hearts job that the Raith fans were laughing their heads off as they actually wanted him sacked and were delighted that he had left them.
It seemed to me that he simply filled the Raith team with underachieving Hearts youth players who struggled to cut the mustard in the 1st Division. Remember our 3-0 win there at the tail end of last season. Easiest 3 points all season.
My brother, who has a season ticket at Tynecastle was not bothered in the slightest when McGlynn was shown the door by Hearts this season. He reckons he didn't know what he was doing half the time and has 'no class'. One time this season, in a pre-match press conference he admitted defeat before a game at Parkhead. Strange thing to do.
So, sounds like a good coach with a good track record of bringing through youth players but maybe not so clever in the hot seat itself. Mmmm, where have we heard that before?

With other better managers at this level available I really hope we don't end up with McGlynn.
He had one good season with Raith when they nearly went up and since then has struggled. Would rather see Peter Houston in the hotseat.

Peter Houston who left Dundee United because they wanted to cut his wages? In what planet do you reckon we'd be able to give him what he was on there? McGlynn did a more than decent job with Raith - got them promoted from SFL2 then had a go at SFL1 and only missed out on winning the league very late on in the season to the Pars. Got them to a Scottish cup semi anaw and won Scottish Manager of the Year. Had his hands tied at Hearts - took their piss poor side to Anfield and got a draw and managed to get them to the semis of the league cup before being punted. Not too bad if you ask me. Managers with great records will be in employmeny. Any free agents will obivously have something against their name. There's guys who have been complete failures at some places then went on to brilliantly elsewhere (Paul Lambert for one). I'd be more than happy with McGlynn.

EEN also say Mark Burchill, Alec Cleland and Richie Burke also interviewed for the job apparently.

Livingston eye ex-Hearts boss John McGlynn
JOHN McGLYNN has been interviewed by Livingston and is one of four candidates for the vacant manager’s job at
Almondvale. Others in contention are Alex Cleland, Mark Burchill and Richie Burke, who is currently in temporary charge of the West Lothian club.
Hearts sacked McGlynn at the end of last month, but he is keen to return to football as soon as possible. He would relish the chance to return to the First Division having established himself there with Raith Rovers before joining Hearts last summer.
McGlynn was coaching Scotland’s Under-19 squad alongside Ricky Sbragia earlier this week having been invited to help out by Mark Wotte, the Scottish Football Association’s performance director. He is seeking a management job at club level but faces stern competition for the Livingston role.

Please no! Burke or Clelland from the 4 mentioned....Burke because he seems to have done well & has been involved in the youth set up; Clelland because he used to do something similar.
