They have started pretty well with 4 wins in the group games. Interesting that in our first spell in the top flight we started the second season with a home win over Motherwell; it finished 3-2 after we roared into a 3-0 lead courtesy of Rubio & 2 from Zarate.
I would be more than delighted by a repeat score line.

I think you are correct

Looking forward to this today, we should have some momentum from the League Cup wins.
The team looks so different from the start of last season and we are bound to miss Halkett, but I think we have enough to get off to a winning start.

Hope you are correct, but they should also have momentum from an even better start to their league cup campaign.

A good solid performance with perhaps the better chances overall. I'll take that.

Indeed, but we need to find a cutting edge

Yep! Has been the case since, imo, last December.
Lots of possession & chances but no real cutting edge.
This is where we'll prosper or struggle this season.
What has the manager, or his ever mentioned sidekick "Davie", done about it? Time will tell.

Tbf Gillespie made some cracking saves to keep us out, and got in the bbc team of the week. Gallagher also cleared one from Pittman when we finally had Gillespie beaten too, and also got in the team of the week. And if Souda's overhead kick had gone in that would be goal of the season contender won already.

If ifs & ands were pots & pans, the world would be full of tinkers.
What you are saying only proves the pudding. We had all those chances & failed to take them ergo we lack a cutting edge.

Likewise, for a 0-0 it was entertaining fare.

Not at all, it goes to show it was more down to the likes of Gillespie and Gallagher having outstanding games rather than us having no cutting edge. No cutting edge suggests we were powderpuff in front of goal, that wasn't the case at all. We had a goal of the season contender brilliantly saved, and another headed away from goal by Gallagher when the keeper was beaten, as well as a cracking tackle stopping us scoring. St Johnstone's defence isn't anywhere near as good as Motherwell's this season so I see us scoring a goal or three no problem if we put in the same kind of efforts on goal as we did against Motherwell.

I rather enjoyed the game. Sacrilege, apparently you can't enjoy a game played on artificial grass.

No, not powder puff. Creating chances is good but having a cutting edge would mean putting those chances away, or some of them anyway.

Which had two opposition players being selected in a team of the week stopping us, sometimes you have to give credit to the opposition rather than blaming ours for not scoring.

You’re right they deserve credit for doing what they are paid to do & doing it well.... which perhaps then suggests that had our guys done what they are paid to do as well as them, we wouldn’t be debating the point... ergo we lacked a cutting edge.
Hopefully we will see more incisive striking tomorrow
