I can’t believe the absolute nonsense being written by some on these boards. To think that the manager should leave because he’s not a Livi fan is so parochial and small-minded. If you apply that argument to the players too, we’d have a squad of around 4. You’ll remember that Hoppy is a Morton fan.
Most clubs have managers and players that support other teams so the argument is nothing short of ridiculous. If you claim to be a Livi fan, try to get behind the team and the staff because they’re all going to need us this season. Decisions have been made and this constant moaning about KM and DM is beyond embarrassing. We’ll be here long after they’ve gone. So, while they’re here, support them. It’s going to be a long season.
Back on planet earth, I thought we competed well again today for the most part. The manager had his best game so far. Kelly, Halkett and Lawless were excellent too (even though they all support teams other than Livi......). Saunders had a poor game and was always looking to get back into his right foot from the left side of defence, which makes the shape and the play unbalanced. Motherwell edged the match and 1-0 was probably about the right result.
Next week's game in Paisley is the first chance to assess where we sit. Games at Parkhead don’t tell us that. A good draw at home to Killie was a real bonus. Losing in the cup isn’t such a hammer blow other than for the lack of subsequent cash. Games against our rivals at the lower reaches of the league are the big ones - St Mirren, Hamilton, Dundee, St Johnstone and maybe even Motherwell. With Hardie and Sibbald getting close to a return, there’s some strength in depth and plenty to be optimistic about - if you can drag yourself away from the petty and pathetic arguments.
The only thing pathetic and embarrassing about this is that he’s walked away. He’s claimed ‘he doesn’t do walking away’. But hey.
