3 points today would go a long way to securing a place in the next round.

What a jolly game.
Another wee pre-season friendly under our belt in a great location, cracking junior ground pitch looked great and great place to sit and relax in the late summer sunshine on the grass bank strangely enough behind the goals.
We started brightly ball to feet was great with Hamilton upfront being supported by a strong midfield obviously fighting to keep their places with the arrival of our new signing. However we found a few gaps in the Annan defence who by the way are no mugs they are a decent side disciplined organised but you felt it was a matter of time then it happened long ball over the Annan defence as KM timed his run to perfection then the race was on between KM and the Annan goalkeeper there was only going to one winner - 1-0 Livi.
It could a should have been two a few minutes later but credit where credit due Annan just rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in (nice strip by the way) and half time came and went with the hosts running out of pies for maybe 600 at a guestimate.
Second half we created some loads of chances hot the bar the post so on a other day it may have been 5 or 6.
As for the red card stupid stupid rather it wax done in a friendly other than a game that mattered.
So we move on to our last pre season game next week if we win we can then get into a proper competitive game which will help us as we shortly embark on what we will be an amazing adventure.

Not sure you were at the same game as me if you thought we started brightly. I thought we were laborious throughout & needed to move the ball quicker & to show more movement off the ball. The goal coming from exactly that.
We had other chances but nothing that wasn’t dealt with easily. On the other hand we escaped punishment when Annan missed an open net & made us scramble a few times. I agree that Annan weren’t a bad side.

I thought we dominated the game until the last ten minutes, really should've been at least three goals up by then too, but we managed to see out the game so all's good. Annan played quite deep until the last ten minutes too, with them sitting back in their own half for most of the game, think the stats were 66% possession to Livi, but we opened them up more in the second half and that was when we hit the post twice, Kenny Miller's was just begging to go in after being put on a plate for him.
Annan only had two shots on target and one was in the closing minutes straight at Kelly, can't remember when the other was, may well have been in the closing minutes too, that's when they almost equalised with us. Wouldn't have been deserved but we need to stick our chances away to make games safe.
It should be a lot easier next week against Berwick, they've conceded seven goals in two games, i'll be disappointed if we don't get at least three against them.
Eight points and top of the group will do us fine, can't see us not winning the group now.

Yeah we did dominate the game but we were still slow in the build up. A better team would have opened us up more. We had plenty chances to bury them but our finishing was powder puff.
But we can only do what we need to do & so far so good

Yeah we're trying to play a short passing game, bringing it out from the back and looking for runners to hit a pass to cut open defences, but it gets tight for us with defences bunching up as they move deep. Our goal and another decent chance came from a ball over the top for Miller and Hamilton to chase, which also shows we're mixing it up too and not sticking rigidly to a short passing game.
We've got a friendly on Tuesday and a game against Berwick on Saturday, hopefully those two games will give us what we need to sharpen ourselves up, the Berwick game is where we should get the chance to maybe relax a bit and rack up a few goals, allowing us to try out moves and build our confidence up before the league opener against Celtic.
I'm both excited about playing Celtic and a bit nervous of what they'll do to us.

A wins a win.
Bit disappointed in the young lad Hamilton though. He had numerous chances and he really should have scored with a couple of them, especially if he has thoughts of playing in the top flight. Possibly needing loaned out again to sharpen up.
K Miller needs to work on his positional play. He is all over the place. No-one seems prepared to tell him to get a grip though.

I thought we struggled for spells in the game and only got it down and passed in parts. The play was too slow, possibly influenced by the smaller pitch. Kenny Miller’s link up play was disappointing and I I can’t decide whether it’s because he’s used to playing with a higher standard of player throughout his career or if he’s actually just lost some of what he had. I’m also not a fan of the players calling him ‘gaffer’ on the pitch - fair enough, call him that in training or off the pitch, but not in a game.
I thought Sibbald looked the part and had some excellent touches and passes throughout. Good signing and I believe he can cut it in the top flight. Lanier was good too, other than for his red card. Other than those two, Byrne, Pittman and Halkett are certainties to start each week but there’s some competition now. Lee Miller is a great player for holding and linking, so I’d definitely play him.
We need a striker and another wide player as a minimum. Hopefully one or two of those on trial will come through this week. We need more pace than we have currently. With Keaghan back, and De Vita, Hardie and the new lad from Wimbledon in the wings, we’ve got some positive things to consider as the weeks go on. Two or three new faces are needed and then we can give it a go at staying up.
Obviously, we need to play much better in the league than we have in the cup - but it looks as high we’ll qualify undefeated, which I’d have taken a fortnight ago.

Hamilton did score, just that it got flagged offside. Seriously though, I thought he did well, was a constant nuisance and was always running and pressing, hit the post which was unlucky and should've tried chipping the keeper instead of wellying it over the bar when he ran onto a ball after mugging their defender. I think he's good enough to come through this season if we give him the chance. Would like to see him linking up with Lee Miller against Berwick, and Kenny Miller dropping himself for that game. I think him and Lee would link up well, he has a similar playing style to Hardie.
