According to an article in the “i” newspaper, today, we are installing a 4G pitch over the summer.

Yeah it’s been rumoured elsewhere previously.

If it's a decent pitch I don't see what the problem is.

Don’t think anyone has suggested there is....
Our results on fake grass have been pretty good recently

Don’t think anyone has suggested there is.... There's plenty of folk all over social media putting the boot into Livi's decision to install a new 4G pitch. Bollox to 'em, though.

Ok so all of a sudden were Billy big balls are we? WLC own the stadium if they are paying for the pitch brilliant if not why the f@ck when we need to invest in so many other things are we doing this. Fair enough next year but lets get the debt down get a decent budget for DH and him to keep him at the club, and get full time groundsman. Just as a point you can hire heat lamps for a pitch same as used in all English premiership clubs for less than a grand a week.Cant believe the shotsight of the club already..however Im only venting my frustration.

The pitch has always had problems with heavy rain. It lies below the water table so is more prone to being waterlogged than other grounds. Grass is always preferable to artificial turf but over the years we have had more than our share of postponed games which is frustrating for the fans and expensive for the club especially when Saturday games move to week nights.

Also, if memory serves, the plans for installing the fake grass were based on a separate funding from the playing budget. I don’t know if it ever happened but there was supposed to be a separate entity from the club that was pulling the funds together for the pitch.

Walked past the stadium today and work has started. Diggers working and trucks hauling away the old pitch

Possibly getting a grant to pay towards the cost but it has always been on the agenda of the new owners and they've been trying to get one down for three seasons now. From what I previously read it is to generate income and make use of the stadium through the week when we're not playing one it, the projected figure was one hundred thousand pounds a year and it would go into the playing budget. Regards debt, I believe the debt has been halved last season, down to about 750 thousand pounds, one thing John Ward can't be accused of is being silly with money, he's very business orientated, putting his head before his heart, and has gotten stick for doing so several times last season when pricing tickets. *edit. I also read that Raith got one post season there, and the same company that did theirs is now laying ours, those Raith billy big baws playing in League One . A lot of lower league clubs have plastic pitches, I doubt it isn't economically viable given most of them are in League One and Two.

Hopefully other teams wont like playing on it and we gain as much of an advantage as Hamilton did when they had theirs (not sure if they still have one, but we'll soon find out).

Presumably someone paid it?
Possibly from TV income, possibly from prize money?

I believe the debt has been halved last season, down to about 750 thousand pounds How'd that happen? I'd imagine a combination of prize money, not spending too much on a massive squad, player sales etc. Can't remember the exact figures but we got a good bit more than we expected in the League Cup making it to the QFs, the Hibs game alone got us about £100k with £60k prize money and £40k gate receipts. 2nd place in the Championship got us £450k, compared to the expected 8th (£190k) or 9th (£178k). As well as whatever we made from the playoffs, some share of the gate receipts away and two bumper home crowds. We also got money for Danny Mullen, and were spending less on players after the January window. Also worth noting that 12th place in the Premiership got over £1,000,000 last season so as long as we're not forking out money we don't have on players, this season will have a big reward at the end of it, especially if we actually manage to stay up.

That's a lot of assumptions but it would seem, at least on the face of it, that there has been good money coming into the club. Hopefully, none of it went into Rankine's back pocket to remunerate him for, ahem, giving his shareholding away for free to Gordon Ford. On that point, did the supporters trust, who at one point had a representative on the board, ever find out from Rankine or the clubs current operating committee what happened to the £50k they ploughed into the club?

So two weeks ago we were told the grass surface was being laid two weeks ago then not one workman at the club on Friday not saying anything but the words "stage payments" spring to mind as suddenly our game in two weeks time is postponed and moved else where?
I hope we have not bitten off more than we can chew the word of money worries are ringing in my head I hope I'm wrong.

Aye, it wouldn’t be summer without someone raising the spectre of financial disaster looming.

Or the company doing our pitch started on Raith Rovers pitch first because we were playing play off games, and they're at the same stage as ours by the looks of things and I suspect they started on our pitch after getting Raith's to where it is and are now going back there to finish it off before coming back and finishing ours. www.raithrovers.net/pitchcamEither that or Raith also have stage payments and are suffering from financial difficulties too.

Maybe it is the "Turf" company that has financial problems? Again all the rumours could have been put to bed by the club giving regular updates. Not just for the new pitch but with regard to all aspects of the club. In order to drive season ticket sales they need to be generating interest every day. Nothing changes!!

When was/is the pitch due for completion?
When will it be playable (assuming they're different dates)?

Maybe it's nothing and folk (misdemeanour) arejust jumping to conclusions. Hamilton's game against us has been moved to Airdrie's ground because they're also getting work done and their 3G pitch wont be ready, wait a minute, have they got the same company as us and Raith?

When was/is the pitch due for completion? Not seen a completion date, so far it isn't going to be ready for the 21st because the Annan game has been moved to Linlithgow, but the game on the 2th against Berwick is still scheduled to be played at home. Our first home league game isn't till the 11th August though.

Yep happy to admit totally wrong, no issues completion dates to the popularity of these pitches and specialists required to lay them have had adverse effect on delivery schedules, so no issues with anything we can all look forward to an exciting future for many years to come with no worries what so ever. The park at Linlithgow is a fantastic place so great our first home game is being played their.

A message up on the OS today about the pitch, manufacturers should've delivered it yesterday but there has been a delay over in the Netherlands and we're now having to switch the Berwick Rangers tie as well. Dutch boys with too many fingers in the dams methinks.
