Right! It comes down to this then.
Pars v Utd hopefully knock seven bells out of each other for the chance to get turned over by us who in turn are looking to skelp the second worst team in the top league and gain promotion.
What are the thoughts on how things are going to pan out over the next few days and weeks?
I honestly don't care who scrapes through between Pars and Utd. If Livi play their 'A' game, as they say, I think both teams are beatable.

Both have better head to head games against us over two legs so nope, it doesn't really matter who we get in the semi's, they'll both be tough opponents. The last two games against both of them have been closer away results though so we're heading in the right direction. If we can keep the first leg tight and either get a positive result or a narrow defeat then I think we can take whichever one of them we get in the home game.

Wish number 1 seems to have come true... They were involved in a right scrap tonight, injuries & a red card. So more of the same on Friday please.
I think United will sneak it at Tannadice... Although the pressure of expectation might work against them.
Although we finished 2nd, in the end it was only by 1 point & as JS points out when it comes to head to head we are technically the worst side of the three. With United having the best record.
If I was to weigh it up based on the last quarter of the season which in the end was bang average for us & the head to head record, if I was a betting man I'd be putting my money on United to reach the final & probably to go up.

I think Livi have the best chance in the final against the Premiership team, but we have to get there first.
I think it would eventually tell on either Utd or the Pars with them having played two quarter final games, and it being their sixth play offs game by the time they get to the last game, Livi coming in second gives us a better chance in the final, but as I said, we still have to get there.
Hopefully the Premiership placings play off battle goes to the last game too, and they don't get the chance to rest up players before the play off final, that could be crucial for us (if we are the ones playing them).
It might actually be better for us if the Pars manage to scrape past Utd now, although we've not managed to beat them yet this season, they put in a hell of an effort getting fourth place and have just played a game with only ten men and two going off injured, they'll be in the worst shape of the two going into our game and probably be dead on their feet by the second leg.

Yep; sounds like they got lucky tonight; hopefully we don't gift them any chances.
I'd be delighted with a draw on Monday

I'd be delighted with a draw on Monday It was a classic case of Dunfermline rueing their missed chances in the first half, and utd being very clinical with the ones they got, think they scored both of their goals with the first two shots they had on target. McDonald is a dangerous poacher too, we can't afford to give him a shot at goal inside our box, he's good at sneaking in at the back post.

Their first choice keeper injured himself doing a cartwheel when they equalised and was carted off.

Having just returned from Dundee having been at the game last night in one their excellent hospitality suites this one will not be easy for us.
Thought United as they did in the first leg out played and outclassed the Pars and very unlucky not have got something out the first game.
Both team lookeed fresh , pitch was fantastic Utds passing in some stages was tremendous and McDonald is a threat. I dont know what has happened to the once piss poor Utd but that was not the case last night. The gap that we sing about has gone we will have to be at our very best to get something out of them. Not worried about the home game just concerned that they will come flying out the traps on Monday and catch us cold. Certainly hope not. Think though if we can muster up two really strong performances we get to that final.

Nah he just jumped up celebrating their goal as he was running back to his goal, landed funny injuring himself and tumbled down doing a forward roll. Dunno where these storing of backflips and cartwheels came from.

They're still poor but Dunfermline should've killed them off in the first half when they were well on top, and once Utd scored Dunfermline ran out of steam and crumbled. I think we need to keep it tight in the away game and we'll beat them in the home game. McDonald is their danger man though, hopefully Lazlo will play one striker up front and not give McDonald anyone to play off. The 2nd leg should see us looking a bit fresher than them too, and having Cadden or Mullin as 2nd half subs would really give us players to rip them down the wing.

The song about the gap was cleverly crafted but completely inappropriate given the fact both teams were heading into the play offs where any gap (and it ended up being only 1 point) is rendered irrelevant.
The gap song should have been with reference to Morton as they gradually fell out of play off contention.
