That game was as depressing as the weather today .Should have had a draw at least if it hadent been for todarovs mistake ,poor defending .Also Boyd had a great chance near the end with a header ( as bad as carricks last week ) . We seem to be a bit clueless up front just now ( 2 big guys with no presence todarov and Mackin) need a striker soon as we can't keep on relying on defenders and midfielders on scoring ...someone in the mould of Mcallister of peterheed would be great .

Yep agree so far game was less than impressive again dare I say it lack of direction from those in the dug out, please note that is not a critisim purelly observation. Both Hoppy and Martindale seemed a bit ubsure how to fix the problem.
I thought removing Robinson who looked a bit of a livewire was a mistake there were others on the park not quite in the game that would have been better been the sacrificial lamb.
Thompson looks good so I just hope he can fit in with the way we play for the rest of the season.
The league is so tight we may not now get into the top four that may suit some who may think even if we got promotion via play offs would we have the sustainable fan base to keep up with additional costs and expense of being in the Premiership? Personally I think not I dont think were that stable yet as a club financially but would be interested to read some other opinions.
I suppose this is hypothetical we have to get to the top four where most of us would settle for 8th.

If we don't want promoted we'd be as well packing it in. Playing at the top level is where everyone should want to be, players especially. The rent would go up but so would prize money, and by a fair bit, the Championship is still getting scraps compared to the Premiership, and attendances would go up too, home and away, however so would gate prices, which is still better for the club.
On the game, we changed our shape because Gallagher was suspended, and went with what looked like a flat back four but I think Raffa and Longridge played as wingbacks and Toddy stepped in as the third centre back, but in doing so we lacked width because Raffa and Jacko hung back too much, making sure they were covering their defensive duties, and we mainly just lumped balls up to Mackin, and then Toddy. A draw woud probably been fair and it would've kept us in the top four but Halkett got caught on the ball which gave Queens their goal, Toddy almost did the same thing later too but we got away with that one, we can't really afford those mistakes at this level. Boyd should've equalised with his header at the near post but he got too much on the ball and headed it wide.
Pisser that we lost but we're still well in the pack for those play off places, and have Brechin away next, so a good chance to get back above QoS with them playing ICT and also the Pars have Utd, who should be extremely motivated to make amends for that humiliation from Falkirk. My biggest worry is losing players in January, and there are already rumours going about on Halkett and Gallagher moving on.

It was Halkett that slipped & gave the ball away not Toddy. Boyd wasn't tall enough to get above the ball, he had no chance of scoring. My only real gripe about yesterday was the order of substitutions. Mackin was slow & laborious so it would have been something different to have had Robinson & Boyd together (this would possibly have been similar in style to Mullen & Buchanan which proved to be effective last season) Jacko was doing ok so no reason to switch him with the new loan player, especially when he didn't even go to the left hand side but seemed to want to play in the middle. So...until I see Boyd & Robinson playing as a strike force I'll reserve judgement on whether we need a new striker... But I'm inclined to agree that we do & we definitely can't keep relying on the midfield & defence to score as well as keep out the opposition every game.

Wow wow wow........let’s all calm down a little and get things into perspective. That was only the fifth defeat of the season and the second one at home. It’s knly the fourth time this season that we’ve failed to score in a game. We need to remember that we were promoted last year and coming up against teams with huge experience of this league - the league that is rightly seen as the most competitive in the country. So let’s lot be pressing any panic buttons just yet. Only a few weeks ago, at the start of the season, every single supporter would have jumped at the chance of finishing 8th. We’re fifth with a game in hand and have a good chance of picking up points this weekend. The depth of our squad was always going to be tested - but I’m happy with the players throughout the squad (on the pitch and on the bench). We’ve got Gallagher, Keaghan and Brown to come back in, with the latter being an unknown quantity - like a new signing. The young lad from Rangers is likely to be decent. My only concern is in central defence when we miss one of the theee stalwarts through injury or suspension. People can muck in for a game or two but not for long spells. So far so good. Great season so far.

Aye... Calm down... No one is panicking, just saying Saturday was disappointing. We all know we have done exceptionally well so far. But I think most of us are realistic enough to know we will have a dip in form. Personally I'll still be delighted with 8th but that doesn't mean I can't criticise a performance. We have shown that we are a match for most teams in the division but like you said, it's a very competitive division, so we will lose games when we don't expect to & as we have demonstrated already this season we will also win when we don't expect to and sometimes we will draw games which could have gone either way.
Saturday was disappointing in that we were at least as good as them but got punished for a defensive error. Hopefully we learn from that.
