I don't care how we win this one just as long as we do.

Who knows what Edinburgh City are like as a team. Either way, it's a must win game for us to get some confidence going. They'll feel that this may be those only chance of getting points in this mini league. Therefore, no complacency please Livi! Let's go there and be professional. I'd like to think that, if we play like we did on Saturday, we'll win. Tempo, pace, width. For the first time in a very long while, I looked at our bench at the weekend and felt we had proper strength in depth with all of them capable of coming on and doing something. Encouraging stuff but very early days. I imagine the manager is using these games to get sharpness and refine the preferred starting eleven.

As a full time team we should be looking to pump this mob. See you behind the goals.

First half was better than second half. 3-0; 3 points; Cadden injured but his half hearted tackle probably caused that as much as anything.
Not as good a performance as Saturday but.a win is a win

Good professional performance by team. Special mentions to miller Byrne and mullin. All had good games. Like the combination of 2 midfield players. Only if we held on against st Mirren be in an excellent position

Agreed, we have a better balance when he plays.

Played well in patches and poorly in other, but we got the result we needed
Officials were rank rotten
Was Danny injured as well or was he just taken off for tactical reasons?

I thought we huffed and puffed against a very poor City side and although fully deserved the 3-0 win the performance was very disjointed and not many of the 90 minutes were pretty to watch.
Our on loan The Rangers keeper is as much a bomb scare as McCallum was last season. One half decent save near the end apart he had a night to forget. DJ really does have to get himself another club if the management think this on loan lad is better than him.
Cadden looked useful until his weak tackle hurt his ankle.
Didn't feel like anything special playing at Meadowbank. Just another ground.

Meant to say - the way their tall black lad danced through our defence near the end only to hit it to close to our The Rangers keeper had alarm bells ringing for the season ahead.
Got to be tighter than that!

I hope Cadden isn't too badly injured, him and Mullin have been very influential in every game we've played, both are key players for us this season.
Scrappy performance but can't be too fussy when we win 3-0 going on 6, Buchanan and Watt made good impact subs, our quality from the bench is looking a lot better than last season, more balance to the team too.
These are still like pre season games too so we're still working on our sharpness and ironing things out, this is only our 5th game. I'd take any kind of win when the league starts too, we lost games like this last season so hopefully this is a sign of us being able to eke out wins when our level of performance dips.
If we can manage a win against Ayr next week we'll be in with a chance of getting through the group stages, by the looks of things St Mirren are the best team in this group and they were fortunate to get a win over us, so we've nothing to fear from the other 2 teams.

Beginning to wonder if Pedro is DJ's publicist/cousin/secret-dad - bottom line on keepers is we haven't had a real goalie in years. McNeil was a decent shot stopper but useless for crosses; DJ is great at pens but worse than useless at free-kicks against us and flaps at crosses; McCallum could shot stop and at least came for crosses but his communication wasn't great. Kelly just looks disinterested most of the time but made a good save early on against Saints and late in the match on Wednesday. He's not really had much to do and had no chance with Clarksons efforts but possibly could have done better with the fluke goal. He's also not had much time to form a relationship with his defence.
If DJ wants to win his place back he has to eliminate his faults.... Assuming of course that Hoppy is not using the cup matches as "trials" for Kelly ahead of the league campaign & going to choose his keeper based on what he sees.

Hopkin/Martindale have shot DJ's confidence to pieces. They should let him go and re-build his confidence somewhere else.
The way Hopkin was "barking" at him in some matches was awful the boy needs an arm round his shoulder.
He has faults granted but so do many other players in the team. Crichton punted the ball several times into no mans land the other night and it came straight back at us.

I think you are right but his form had slipped first. The fault thereafter was not managing the situation. I don't sit near our bench but I have noticed Hoppy heavily criticising some guys in the past, it's one of the reasons I remain to be convinced about his suitability for the post. However, credit where it is due, he seems to have recruited some reasonably good outfield players....time of course will provide a clearer picture.

All players form dip from time to time. My point is Hopkin/Martindale have shot DJ's confidence to bits. Let him go and re-build it somewhere else.

If DJ was wanting to leave he'd have left, other players have left when they weren't getting games. Some have even left when they were getting games, nobody is keeping him here against his will. The Sevco keeper doesn't look any better than DJ, but that isn't saying DJ is up to much either, both look bomb scares at times and have plenty faults.

I think DJ needs to fight and battle for place in team. I also have noticed that hoppy and Davie Martindale are very negative towards players at times , maybe that's there style but always hear them shouting

You could argue in an empty room, I agreed with you... I'd prefer him to knuckle down and fight for his place but rebuilding somewhere else could be the making of him.

Well said Nick some very true comments in there. People need to realise DJ is a poor keeper, yes hes made penalty saves but as I said last season he set himself up by not talking to his back four plus anyone with Darren Cole in front of them would need to make saves!! If DJ wants to find anew club I'll happily drive him there. Jury is out on Liam Kelly, we will only be able to tell how good a goalie he is after ten or so games. Bring back Horace Stoute!!!

Bring back Horace Stoute!!! he'll be an even poorer keeper if his confidence is knocked to shreds by a management team that got us relegated last season. I never understand why why we are promoting and developing a The Rangers player ahead of our own. Only way to develop is to play.
