Looking forward to getting right back into the competitive games tomorrow.
No idea what to expect - lots of comings and goings at our place and St Mirren will be much the same so who knows?!
Interesting to see who'll be between the sticks - had imagined it would be DJ but with Kelly signing, I'm not so sure now.
Am I the only one who would be quite happy to see us draw all of our games then win all the penalty shoot-outs that follow?! :-)

St Mirren have signed David Clarkson and John Sutton, both of whom are at least second tier level, so IMO they will be stronger than last season

It was a good game, didn't think we deserved to lose, we scored 2 decent goals, they got 2 wonder strikes and a fluke. Morgan could kick that ball from the bye line a million times and never score but we seem to have no luck but bad luck. And the ref proved that Scottish Football needs to import real officials.

It was two wonderful strikes for St Mirren's first and third goals, but if we stand off them and don't put any pressure on the player we're inviting those kind of goals to be scored against us. We can't keep calling them wonder goals and bemoan 'our luck', we conceded plenty of goals like that last season and are doing it again this season, against Dunfermline in a pre season game and St Mirren in the Betfred cup. We need to make sure we get tighter to players and not allow them time to get those shots off, or at least put pressure on them to try and put them off.
Apart from that we played quite well, especially down the wings. Cadden was superb, he will rip League One sides to shreds playing like that.

JS; while I agree we could defend those better it happens to all teams; when the guy is that far from goal the thinking is "Go on then hit it" because 9 times out of 10 it flies over the top or goes straight to the keeper or slices out of play; we just always seem to be on the receiving end of the 1 in 10 that go in. Clarkson has been around the block a few times but I bet he's never connected so sweetly with 2 shots like that in the same game until today. And the same goes for Shankland last season.

Yeah but it happens to us frequently, St Mirren scored two like that against us last season, then again when we went down South for a friendly, and there were a few other games where we lost goals like that. If we stand off them and invite the shot then there is a fair chance they'll score, and as you said in your other post, they always seem to score these kinds of goals against us so it can't keep being our bad luck. To do it twice in the same game pretty much proves it is more than luck, they're getting the space and time to pick their spot and hit it.
That's my only criticism really and I don't think it is too difficult for us to work on eradicating it from our game. If you have just one player running at the opposition player lining up his volley it would probably be enough to put him off so he doesn't hit it so sweetly.
I like the look of our two wingers, especially Cadden, it is great seeing a player who looks to go forward and take on defenders, and he has the skill to get past them and score from distance. Our set pieces have improved from last season too, we almost scored from a corner today and we put in some great crosses from the wings.

This is exactly what some guy said to me at my car on the way home from the game. Agreed with it, and i thought we looked pretty good (with a team that i didn't expect to start if pre season was to go by) I felt we at least deserved a draw from the game. Saints looked very poor apart from a few special moments. They have brought in experienced guys but even they look ropey. Webster, Clarkson and Sutton have found their level at an average Championship side. If the ref wasn't being nice, Saints could have had a few players on bookings which could have changed the game. Getting rid of Jim Goodwin, and now they have a team of total heed the baws haha!

If results continue to go against us and Rankine sacks Hopkin does that mean Martindale will be our next manager?

Provide the incontrovertible proof that Rankine is in charge or change the record.

Provide the incontrovertible proof that Rankine is in charge or change the record. He was there yesterday overseeing proceedings

So was I.... For all you know I could be in charge, so your "proof" is hardly incontrovertible is it?
Do you really think the league having punished us for his involvement would let us get away with it now just because his name isn't on any official documents?

It's already been said he is the biggest creditor of club. Remember the last biggest creditor what they done to Livi FC. at best you are being very naive to think he is still not involved. You our don't have to be directly involved to be pulling the strings.

Yes he is a creditor however he is banned from having any say in the running of the club... If it is so obvious that he is do you seriously think he'd be getting away with it when the authorities take every opportunity they can to punish Livi?
So I say again... Provide the proof (you or TFB or anyone else for that matter) or stop dragging it up at every opportunity, it's old, it's boring and it adds nothing to any discussion about the team.
