So we are remaining full time and hopkin stays as manager for another year Full time I guess is fine but I feel the board is going to continue to expect too much from a low budget As for hopkin, I can't say I'm happy with that but I suppose who else would want the job livingstonfc.co.uk/hopkin-signs-1-year-deal/?platform=hootsuite

I do however agree continuity is needed and now we just have to get behind the team like we always do

Terrible decision IMO. Hope that Hopkin proves me wrong, though.

I can only think that the Board are looking at the other teams in the league being predominantly if not entirely Part Time that somehow staying Full Time will make us better that every one else?
Obviously failing to take into account our struggles against Dumbarton, at times Alloa and with Stranraer that shows that its not going to be a cakewalk

I think Airdrie plan on going FT in the upcoming season. The rest will all definitely be PT.

I wish they would define full time. Will the players be there 9 to 5 every day five days a week?

Full Time: Earning sufficient at "pro football" so that you don't have to deliver pizza in your spare time, unless you want to.

edinlivi and Auldnick...I think you have hit on my concern.....that the custom and practice of Scottish "professional" football was not enough to save us from relegation, beaten into that fall by part time clubs. I suggest that we need to look at that customer and practice and make changes or we will waste our full time status again...if we are the only full time team in that division next year the only acceptable outcome is promotion.

This is the first time that I have ever posted on this forum but having supported Meadowbank Thistle and now Livingston for 38 years (since I was 8) I wanted to show my support for the Board Announcement last night. I don't get along to home or away games as often as I would like as I am often away but try to watch as often as I can. As in everything in life, there will always be people who don't support those in charge or will always have question marks and uncertainty, however I think the vast majority of true Livingston fans will be delighted at the openness of the announcement. The last few years have been challenging for all the reasons we know however I am hopeful that this is now the start of a new beginning for the club, where the community of West Lothian (and beyond) can get back behind their club, in a spirit of openness and transparency. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will re-building the trust between the Board and fans be resolved quickly, however I would urge all of the West Lothian community to do their bit for our club over the summer and all of next season to help bring back the days of years gone by. I will definitely be doing what little I can to support the club and am looking forward to the new season starting.

ewan: Welcome I think you make a fair point. I do have a limit on how many times being pushed away or rejected I can take. I know of people who have approached the club with spade ready options to help the club make money or to improve the conditions fans watch the game in and have seen these rejected off hand, often for no other reason than that board member could not be bothered or because they were not interested it being not their idea and ITS THEIR CLUB. I hope the new board are not like that, I hope. For many I think the board have to be making many right moves to earn the trust, expecting it will not work.

livimoaner - thank you for your reply and your points are extremely valid. Maybe a request to the Board for there to be a Fans Forum within the next 4 weeks (as opposed to the 2 / 3 months mentioned) be made to the Board in a spirit of true openness and positivity. I would (hope) that if the Board and Fans get together with a shared vision for promoting and re-building our club we could get back to the days where we had 2,000 people at home games. Although I am away a fair amount on business I would definitely try and make myself available to come along and see what we could all do together. Please don't get me wrong - I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to have been turned down time and time again, but I definitely feel (personal opinion) that I am really wanting to give it a massive push this summer and next season as I don't want to lose my team forever.

I don't like the term "true Livi Fans", we're all Livi fans, some accept things more readily than others but that doesn't make anyone any less of a Livi fan. We've had owner after owner coming in and making bold statements of intent only for it to be either a pipe dream or a complete lie. Each time some of our fans readily believed what they were being told and some didn't, we then saw a divide in our support, unfortunately each time the doubters were proven to be correct and it all ended badly for the club.
As fans we want to believe what we're being told as the alternative means our club is in danger of financially going out of business, and we wont have a football team to follow. Football isn't like a normal business, people get emotionally attached and invest far more than just money or their time, you want it to be around for generations, you go down to games as a kid with your dad, grow up and take your own children down, or grand children. Livingston fc are just at that stage where a second generation of fans are coming along, ones who are lifelong Livi fans and are bringing their own son/daughter along, none of us want that to end, so lets not go down the old route of arguing amongst ourselves and forming a split in our support. We need people to ask questions, hopefully those questions will be answered satisfactorily at a fans forum, but lets not forget, we've had fans forums before under Flynn and Massone and they both said the right things and got most of us to believe in them.
I hope upon hope those in charge are genuine and are true to their word, but they have a long way to go for me to completely trust them. I've still got a lot of questions and doubts but i'll be there next season as always and no doubt filled with a renewed optimism by the time the season starts, if nothing else, football fans are gluttons for punishment. Mon the Livi Lions.
