Do not buy a ticket from Livingston North to Alloa.
This costs £17.10, because there is the option of changing at either Glasgow or at both Edinburgh Park and Stirling.
A ticket from Livingston South (changing at Edinburgh and Stirling) to Alloa is £9.40.
If you do wish to travel from the North station, then buy a return to Edinburgh Park (£5.20) then a return from Edinburgh Park to Alloa (£8.80) for a total price of £14.

All the same, it's good advice. Thanks for the heads up.

Maybe people want to arrive early and get something to eat in Alloa, or kill two birds with one stone and visit one of the attractions in Stirling. The supporters' bus just goes straight to the ground with no time for anything else.
I have witnessed people taking the train to the away game at Dumbarton. I personally took the train only to Livi North (I stay in Edinburgh), then caught the supporters' bus at the Saltire as this was cheaper than remaining on the train all the way to Dumbarton East, but as I got off I saw people getting on who were wearing Livi colours.
