Mark Fotheringham and Sam Stanton - midfielders - does this mean we are going to play along the ground and through the midfield? Could be good signings.

Rumoured to be signing Tom Walsh on loan from Rangers, who I believe is also a midfielder.
The two that we've signed could prove to be very good pieces of business, but only time will tell.

Tom Walsh is a winger, looked a decent prospect. Hopefully means we'll be passing about and using the wings rather than a long ball from our defence to the other team's defence.

Don't forget Esposito, another quick winger who plays on either wing, or as a wingback on either side.
It is certainly an area we've been very weak in the last few games, and we've ended up missing out playing in midfield, lumping balls straight up for the strikers to chase. Or Gallagher has to go on a run from defence to bring the ball 60 yards up the pitch to try and pass to a striker.
Geeze, pacey wingers, a couple of decent ball players in midfield, i'm coming over all of a quiver.

My Hibby mate thinks Stanton has lost his way a bit this season...hopefully it's that he needs to be playing. I liked the look of him last season

Promising start from the two new signings, Stanton brings a lot of energy and drive in midfield and Fozzy looked like the O'Brien type player controlling midfield and picking out passes. A few went astray but some were excellent and for a first game it was pretty good. Pittman looked a lot better having those two playing in our team too.

Yeah must be wanting Hippo to walk for nothing and is trying to scunner him off, can't think why else he was kept sitting on the bench today. I know Hippo is inconsistent and frustrating but he can also turn a game, only have to look at the goal he scored against The Rangers to see that, he may have got us a replay today, was at least worth a try. Knox brought nothing to the game, was too young and out of his depth against, well men. Currie looks a prospect so at least gave him some experience but Knox is physically a couple of years away from this level.

Thought Stanton had some decent touches but on the whole was largely quiet and slower than I remembered him being... Could be lack of games so not complaining about him just saying what I saw.

They would have been ideal to bring on if we had been a couple of goals up but needing a goal to salvage a draw should have seen Hippo and Gibbons introduced. Also we need to step up the effort to bring back McCallum or another decent keeper because DJ is simply not at the races just now. He ought to be dominating the goal area but he is rooted to his line most of the time, should never have conceded that goal today.

McCallum will be back next week. McCallum was at Almondvale yesterday i find McCallum erratic at times and DJ to static. We need something in between.

Sorry but McCallum does not impress me. On the whole he doesn't impress me either but the defence was more settled with him in goal than it is with DJ there; his positioning for free kicks is better; his distribution from kick outs is better; he is a decent shot stopper & he at least tries to catch or punch crosses. The only aspect where he is behind DJ is saving pens.

We've got systematic, hydromatic ,ultramatic, greased lighting......... Unfortunately that's the choices we've got in goals, erratic or static, only one way to decide. Sorry, I think this season has tipped me over the edge.

Glad McCallum is back, I think he's a much better goalie than DJ is and I don't feel quite so tense watching games when he's in the sticks. I used the word Strangely because he's disappeared from the team page without any announcement; it had happened before for someone else who was omitted by error. Thought Ross Millen looked pretty handy against Stenny but decidedly shaky against the Pars in the pre-season friendlies. Good at set pieces but not particularly fast and pretty lightweight in tackling - bit of a handicap for a right back defender really. My concern really is, with Cole and Sives long term injuries, he was our only recognised defender replacement if/when Gordon or Longridge get suspended.

Burchill obviously had to put the squad together hastily, with the embargo hanging over the club he didn't have the luxury of being able to keep the players from the previous season and strengthen in areas we were weak. It was more a case of some stayed, some left, and apart from Buchanan and Gordon (who were targeted by him during the play offs) the rest were 2nd or 3rd choice signings from what was left by the time the embargo was lifted.
I hope Hopkin works out as it would be the first time in a while where we'd have a manager given a chance of getting his team assembled, get a pre season under their belts and have a fighting chance in the league. The last few seasons have been a clusterf*ck with the managerial roundabouts, embargo's and ripping the team apart due to budget cuts. Would be great for a manager and the fans if we at least got a fair crack at it without being handicapped before we even kick a ball.
Millen; was one of those 2nd or 3rd choices, no loss seeing him go.
Sives; was more a safe bet of at least knowing what we were getting, nothing great but can do a job, however with Gallagher unexpectedly being given an appeal we didn't really need him.
Cole; is a complete chancer, does well to secure a deal then doesn't try a leg.
Georgiev; seems a bit lightweight and hasn't featured much, obviously not in Hopkin's plans.
Duckrell; either needs to get a game to see if he is any use or get rid, I suspect the latter as again, it doesn't seem he's in Hopkin's plans.
Hippo; has shown he can play but a frustrating player who has more downs than ups, i'd still like to see him stay but suspect he's had his final chance with Hopkin.
Glen; another that can play but has had more games that he hides in than ones he shines, I doubt Hopkin is wanting rid so we're stuck with him, just hope he rewards the manager's loyalty with some decent performances.
I wouldn't be too bothered at losing all of the above and seeing them replaced with players like Stanton & Fozzy who showed more desire and commitment in that Morton game than all of the above have all season.

I mentioned when we signed Millen that my Pars supporting colleague said he was decent with a dead ball but not much else on offer.
I said it was worth giving him time but in the few games he played he seemed to live up to my mates assessment.
