Anyone know anything about our longer term injuries. Burchill tells us nothing either in the programme, official site or the very bad LiviLive. Feel like a mushroom.
Before the apologists jump in it won't be competitive advantage, blah, blah etc.
I just want to know what's up with them and when they are likely to be back.
Mullen Sives Cole Any others?

It's worrying that there are so many players with knocks as it's having a clear, to me anyway, impact on the team and results!

Callum Carson's twitter has Duckrell out with a thigh strain, not seen anything about Hippo.
Looks like Duckrell is our obligatory injury prone signing who never plays a game for us.

Think this is the 4th time I've read he's picked up an injury though, must be getting most of them in training because he's only played a pre season game for about 5 minutes, and he pulled up with what looked like a pulled hamstring in that game.
Looked fast and direct in his brief appearance against Real Sociedad but hard to say how good he is on a 5 minute sub appearance.
Beginning to think he's injury prone.

I'm saying the three players I have mentioned would not make us any better if they were fit. Mullen would be a handy sub though, but so would Hippolyte. So back to my question to you...if those 3 players were fit who would you drop to make way for them?

It's not a case of who would 'I' drop. Who I'd drop doesn't matter a jot.
Competition for places would see players in possession of a starting slot up their game to keep in the team.
With no competition, due to injuries and/or stupid online behaviour, the starting eleven can relax because no one is coming to take their place anytime soon.

OK, so I misunderstood what you were getting at...but this then raises another question why you should suggest that the guys in possession need to up their game when they have won 2 of their last 3? While you are correct in saying the "we played well but didn't get the breaks" concept is wearing thin, we were nevertheless at least on a par with Morton in playing ability, the penalty being the difference between the sides. In general terms I agree that lack of competition for places is detrimental but Neill, Gordon & Gallagher are forming a decent defensive line, so much so that McCallum is rarely called upon to make a save. His punching at crosses/corners leaves something to be desired but he rarely looks under pressure at other times. Longridge has played well recently (tackle for the pen notwithstanding) but the midfield could do with more competition and yet Gibbons is doing well, Pittman is still a handful for the opposition, Faria has been getting better (until Saturday when I thought he regressed somewhat) & Glen is working very hard. Off-field nonsense aside I think Hippolyte can offer something different to the current midfielders but he needs to be focused and "up for it". Up front perm any 2 from 3 with White, Buchanan & Sheerin. There is nothing much else on the bench that can challenge them until Mullen is fit. Millen possibly offers better dead ball delivery but seems lacking in other aspects. Currie looks a decent player when he comes on. Georgiev continues to look like a player but doesn't actually do much & Duckrell is the latest in a long line of players who sign, get injured & never make an appearance. Who you would drop is irrelevant but you asked me if I thought we were starting the best XI; I was essentially asking you the same thing because you asking me that question suggests you don't & so I am still wondering what you perceive as the starting XI assuming everyone was fit & available regardless of off-field nonsense.

To be honest, I have no idea who our best XI is.

LOL - I appreciate your honesty; trouble is I'm not sure Burchy is 100% sure either. I do think he is pretty close though based on what I've seen. If Hippo was firing on all cylinders I'd start him but he has yet to hit the form he showed in the run-in last season. Problem there is who would be left out & it would probably be Longridge to have a definite back 3 or Faria which would leave us short on midfield "muscle" but give us more options going forward.

I agree that competition for places keeps players on their toes but our defence is the best it has been all season and the three CB's are getting better with each game they play together.
Up front White has had to wait patiently to get his chance and all three have been dropped at some point, so they are very aware they need to perform well to keep a starting place.
Midfield has seen Pittman, Gibbons, Glen and Faria dropped too so wouldn't think they'd be feeling comfortable in keeping their place, but options from the bench isn't good when things aren't going well in a game. Really could do with Mullen and Hippo being back playing.
The only position I felt that was just too comfortable was DJ's, he wasn't playing well but there was no pressure on him to keep his place, then McCallum was brought in on loan.
