Looking forward to this game, chance to get above both them and St Mirren if results go our way.
Only thing I'd change from the Alloa starting eleven is dropping Hippo to the bench and bringing in Spas. Or if we're feeling gallus going with Buchanan, White & Sheerin.
We should be full of confidence but certainly no place for complacency, we'll have to be right up for it and keep things simple in defence again, no slackness with back passes.

Glad we're playing them at their stadium with a hideous name ...better chance of winning

Was Hippo rightfully red carded? YES! 3pts out of 6pts when you are bottom is simply not good enough. Awaits for all the reasons and excuses to be posted.

OK I've taken a time to reflect on yesterdays game.
Firstly may I give to good points. By far the biggest away support of the season, which is brilliant. Secondly maybe not a good point I was up till yesterday a Hippo fan. His disgraceful actions were nothing short of appalling and a few Livi fans certainly made their feelings made to him as he walked off the park, he is now a fallen hero in my book a distant memory from the past. The annoying and frustrating thing is he probably has the talent to turn games but his behaviour probably cost us the game yesterday.
However, and there is a however, praise where praise is due. We totally controlled the first half, great positive play far more aggressive than in previous weeks. The passing was more controlled, Pitman again pulling the strings in midfield I though Buchanan and Sheerin were superb. Gary Glen was solid, and at the back this is where I eat my words due to previous criticism but like last week Declan was fantastic. Even the one attack that Dumbarton had from the first corner late on in the first half that led to the goal, I was not concerned, I still thought there was enough in the tank to get back into the game, yet again proven right shortly after where persistent play in the Dumbarton box led to an equaliser.
The police were called at half time to the Livi end as potential crowd trouble in the hosts eyes could have erupted as bunch of guys, quite rightly or wrongly decided that standing was an option for the game. In their defence there was no view being blocked, yet after words with the marshals during the first half the Police were called to either make them sit down or be removed. This took the entire half time interval to resolve with a compromise from both sides. I hardly think had we all wanted to stand like those in Glasgow seem to want to do there would have been no altercation.
Moving on the second half saw Hippo replace Cole and we started positive. Honest Dumbarton are not a great side, in fact worst I have seen all season and we were "Myles" better (excuse the pun) to that point of the Red card. Couple of brief attacks that brought a top class save from their keeper shot from outside the box (think it was Buchanan but could be adjusted on that one)but it just wasn't to be.
However despite the defeat I saw enough in the play that should see us through to survival this season. I do not think we will be in play off`s (relegation) but feel if we continue to improve and play like we did results will follow and we could finish ahead of a bad bunch, perhaps have the momentum to build for a challenge next season.
Finally quick word about Spas, simply very good.

I've been a livvy fan all my adult life Meadowbank thistle included I walk my dog around the stadium every day and for what I gather we don't train in the afternoons what I'm getting at is there's very few left in stadium after 12 o'clock so answer to not enough in the tank is we only get out what we put in single training sessions not good enough needs to be better more intense and keep those so called footballers in till 4.30 like a normal job they are embarrassing our shirt

We did seem to lose our shape in he second half.
Hippo deserves to be hammered for his actions. Some of the abuse towards him was OTT

misdemeanour; I believe there was a homophobic shout from a Livi fan that got reported to the police, there's a no tolerance policy to that sort of behaviour.
On the game, thought we were well worth the 3 points until Hippo was stupid enough to get himself sent off, he was roasting their defence when he came on and the ref was actually giving him plenty of the decisions, he yellow carded a player that fouled Hippo. His sending off forced us into a 2nd substitution we really wouldn't have made, Longridge going off injured being the other, Sheerin had to go off for Gibbons and that left Buchanan as the lone striker. White would've come on at some point so that was knackered thanks to Hippo.
Even after the red card we looked the better team and had a couple of really good efforts saved by their keeper, Gibbons and Pittman almost scored.
However our defending is terrible, Dumbarton hardly troubled us at all but their first goal was so easy with Millen almost running away from their player as he was allowed to advance into our box and pick out a player for their headed goal, just not good enough giving them that much time and space to make a pass like that. 2nd goal was against the run of play too and more slack defending, criminal to even lose that game with 10 men when we were dominating it so much.
Quite simply our defending needs tightened up as we aren't going to score 3 goals every game to get a win, we can hardly get one most games. Attacking wise we look fine with Buchanan and Sheerin, midfield is still a bit too chop and change, could do with getting a settled core of players in there. McCallum looked a tad shaky dealing with pass backs and running out the box to try and usher the ball out for a goal kick, stay in your box and lets keep things simple to cut out mistakes.
The first quarter has been a disaster for us with only 4 points from 27 but enough positives from what I've seen in games against Morton, Raith, QoS, St Mirren, Alloa & Dumbarton to believe we can do better in the next quarter. A lot of work to be done though and definitely need to improve results wise the next time we play those teams as they're all winnable games.

I did post about a previous game that what had happened in a game, the not clearing of lines was a direct reflection of what had happened in training. I also remember previous threads where people have suggest the team trains at the time they play for the people who suggested it to be shot down in flames. I support the view that you train for what you want to do and you train hard to make the match easy. If you want to perform at 3 in the afternoon, that is when you train, if you want people to clear danger balls do not practice no out rules at training. If you want your players to pass to a fellow team member wearing a yellow shirt....do that in training. Its not hard, its not brain surgery so why so called professionals refuse to discuss such ideas and worse for unread fans to defend them is beyond me. Doing the same as what others do will ot save our club from relegation, doing things different will.

Doing things differently from others may have absolutely no positive impact at all. Other teams don't gift us goals...we on the other hand do things differently from others, we gift them goals every week! Doing the same things as other teams but doing those things better than they are should bring positive results but there are no guarantees.

The Alloa bungee rope warm up was different but it didn't really help them much as they finished 2nd bottom.
Agree with Auldnick, improving on what we're doing doesn't necessarily mean having to do things differently, just do them better. Work on weaknesses in defence, set piece deliveries, tactics, oh and getting a bit of consistency may be helped if we played the same players together for more than 1 game so they can form an understanding between each other. Too much chopping and changing every week, at this stage of the season we should know our best starting eleven and what formation works best.

Saw Dumbarton's tv highlights on P&B and Hippo got in a tangle of legs with their player and tripped up, got up and just kicked the guy right in front of the ref, def red card.

Read more: livifc.boards.net/thread/1023/dumbarton-livi#ixzz3nuWoQtEyIm not defending the guys by any aspect, the language that one individual was shouting was obscene to be honest, it was more the point in reference to standing up, but your right that sort of behaviour must be stamped out. I stand corrected if my post was in anyway defending the group of guys. Also in the rumour mill, no names no pack drill, but APPARENTLY there will be a taxi called for an employee at the club, regardless of results by the end of October. This has been confirmed (allegedly). I wonder who that may be any thoughts?

Not biting to that one maybe he's the next Chelsea gaffer From the information all I can say is it may not be the no 1 but the no 2?, could simply be down to cost cutting or maybe moving on, some of this depends on the Dindee Utd situation, I just cannot work out the link if I`m being honest, however still a long way to go in the month
