Good to start the competitive games off with a win. Slow start and had AD took advantage of the chances they had, we could have been 3 or 4 down at HT. Credit where it's due though and the whole team kept plugging away despite being on the ropes a bit and we fought well to get back level before HT. Special mention to Dean for his last ditch block on the line to prevent a certain goal.
Second half we stepped it up a gear and took real control of the game. Couple of cracking goals too. Shame we switched off a bit and let them back in to it but again, good to see us regrouping and banging in another couple to seal the deal at the end.
Two new faces introduced too and both put in solid shifts. Will take a while to get used to all the names and what not but good to be able to improve the squad with these guys.
I thought Kev was excellent at right back this week getting up and down the line aswell as doing the defensive stuff superbly too but MotM for me was Richie Kay. Two cracking goals and a couple of assists too. Dominated the midfield for long spells and the AD boys couldn't get near him at times.
Think Paul Miller's got to take the donkey award this week for his 'half a yard from goal' miss. After talking us through his 45 yard Goal of the Season thronker at this years POTY, he might need to start on his speech for his donkey award next year...
Well played lads - first trophy of the 5 retained. No game this weekend then the league business starts away to Airdrie on the 24th.

MOTM for me watching was definitely Richie for his goal and assists not to say Dave hatty a close second, Donkey has to be Paul he was pretty much in the goals and still put it over funny to watch but could see he was disappointed to say the least. Keep it up lads parts of the match were very enjoyable to watch and others especially the start of the first half were shite you's have the ability to make make it an other amazing season for you's.

Glad to come away with the win, but it was a peculiar match. 1st half was a bit of a slog and we seemed to get over-run quite a bit somehow. Not sure if we were pressing too high or not tracking back enough but something was a bit off. Had plenty of corners so glad we converted one to go in at 1-1 with a big strong header from Dave. 2nd half was a lot different. Minus a couple of blips where they scored we were pretty comfortable, scored 5 good goals and deserved to win overall. I'll go MotM as Dave with the hat-trick and scoring that important 1st half goal, and Donkey unfortunately has to go to Paul for the miss, but he had a good game other than that.

Always expected Saturday to be tough as if I'm correct, those lads are now a Sunday team.
Obviously, with no pre-season, we were always going to be a little slow out of the traps and that's exactly what happened. We had a few nice spells of possession in the first half, but were definitely lacklustre and happy to go in at half time with the scores equal. Absolutely tremendous block from Dean to keep us in the game – well played son.
Second half was a different story. We changed the left side to mix things up a bit and both Daryll and Daz put in strong performances. We were more compact when we didn’t have the ball and we opened the park up when we did. A few wonderful goals in the second half and from Richie in particular. We conceded a couple of poor goals towards the end but that's almost to be expected with the amount of changes that were made all over the park to get everyone game time.
Motm: Between Dave & Richie this week but i'll give it to Richie for 2 stunning finishes and some superb assists (and potential assists if Paul didn't scoop it) Donkey: Mutter for painting his toenails

MotM - same suspects yet again, Dave and Richie. Good to see both of them playing as well as they did last year. Going to give it to both of them because Dave got us back in to it when we weren't playing at our best and Richie got a couple of crucial goals at good times when it looked like AD might have fought back.
Donkey - Paul you're getting let off this week as our donkey of the year Mutter is continuing to show us why he deserves the mask.

MotM : Gonna go for Richie. Held position well in the first half to shore us up a little.. turned on the style when he got the room to do it and scored a couple crackers. As ever though - honourable mentions to Dave, Tom, Daz K when he came on - and Tich. Often does a lot of what seems to be immediately unrewarding work in covering and challenging high balls - but ultimately makes a massive difference.
Donkey : Everyone that argues with me at corners.
Both attacking and defensive corners were at time causing us issues. The attacking ones... often contain no direction in terms of players knowing where the ball might be - so we can draw defenders away to make room for others.. or where to run when attacking from outside the box.. as is often the point of sending guys like me and Wullie up..
Defending corners. I genuinely felt that we made life difficult for ourselves by lining up on the 18 yard line with them.
What happens at that point is.. when the corner is taken - we then are not only tracking them if they move first.. but also running at our own goal. Even if we do win the header.. the chances of directing it at our own goal is MASSIVELY increased. If I'm starting on my 6 yard line.. and I know who I am marking.. then as he comes in.. WHEN I win the header.it's at least travelling away from danger. Also.. slight zonal awareness has us in the better position to start with.. and able to move only a couple of yards to adjust instead of hoping we catch the attacker on his run form the edge. It also offers a little more protection to the goalkeeper. That however.. is just my opinion.

Have to keep it short as accessing site from my phone.
Started slowly, but got better as game went on and thought we won it quite easily in the end.
MOTM - Dave, thought he was buzzing aboutin the first half and him and tich done well with little service, winning headers and holding ball up etc. Took all 3 goals well and a solid start to season. Mention to Tom for doing extra work in middle so I could get forward.
Donkey - Mutter for painted toes. Paul thank mutter for not getting donkey this week.

Good to start the season with a trophy lads.
We were a little slow to start, but that's only to be expected as we hadn't really played a full 90 in a while. Great determination and fight to get back in the game and seal the win.
MOTM - Dave. Great display infront of goals. Pains me to say it but he's the outright top goal scorer now.
Donkey - Paul for THAT miss.

MOTM - Dave for the hattie, but Richie only a baw-hair behind. Donkey - Paul for the miss, Mutter only a baw-hair behind. McGinty, happy to give zonal marking a wee effort next game though you take full responsibility if we concede

Thought we had some good spells in the first half, but quite often lost.it in midfield or panicked a bit in defense.
My first half performance had everything I'd want from any game, apart from a good final ball to set up Dave, Richie or tich. My thinking was a little slow and I think thats the one thing we took a wee bit of time to get going with. Once we caught the break with a bit of confidence we settled down.
We made sure we were going out.in right mindset to fully capitalise on their slow second half start.
That was great to see.
Motm: Dave. Hatrick and constant. Pressure resulting in some key touches around their box.
Donkey: Ryan 'what women want' Mutter.
