Lads,
The annual IFA WorldNet tournament has been confirmed as taking place on the weekend of 6th-8th July 2018 in Nottingham (same as last year, albeit we didn’t make it along).
I’ll sort out travel, accommodation etc nearer the time, but at this stage just looking for availabilities to gauge interest to determine whether we’d have a decent sized group (made up of either playing or non-playing members) to take down with us.
For those of you who haven’t been before, it’s a two-day tournament which involves 64 teams from around the IFA league competing in a group table format on the Saturday. Each group consists of four teams, who play each other once (games are 30 minutes, 15 per half with referees and linesman).
The the Sunday splits into two knockout-style groups. The top two teams of each group from the Saturday are entered into the ‘Cup’, whilst he bottom two teams from each group are entered into the ‘Plate’. Potential for 4/5 games I think to get to the final and win something for the journey home.
It’s always a cracking weekend, with a mix of teams who turn up wanting to do well and (usually) the Scottish teams turning up to get absolutely melted and run about a wee bit. We tend to sit somewhere in between in the sense we normally do quite well but we’re struggling with the fear at the same time!
As a side note - reason I’ve said Friday 6th as the start is because the British Cup final is played down at worldnet at that point. We’d travel down on the Friday anyway and go along to it if we fancied (or if we’re in it 😎) before heading out to get smashed.
