Seen a tweet from Scottish bookmakers 'McBookie' saying that out of the blue, there's been a flurry of bets placed on Gordon Strachan to become next Scotland manager resulting in his price changing from even money to 4/9.
That's a big shift and would indicate word has come form somewhere that he's taking the job on. With the friendly coming up against Estonia at Pittodrie at the beginning of February, it sounds like they might be hoping to put a new manager in place in time to pick his own squad for that.
I'd be quite happy with Strachan in all honesty. Not fond of him as a pundit but always liked a lot of his post match chat and he done decent jobs at Southampton and Celtic.
Time'll tell but going by the bookies, he looks like our new man.

Gordie Strachan?! Scotland would be even more of a laughing stock with that toatie wee stoater in charge, if you ask me.
I mind, this one time, I took Cleethorpes from the lower echelons of the Isthmian Paint 2nd XI reserves (Youth) League to one point from 8th in the Greek Super League in only 46 seasons.
I'd wager that there's not too many top level ZX Spectrum 'Football Manager's can say that. 100% fact!

Strachan is a good shout in my opinion. He's got a reasonable track record and I think he's got a bit of humour and charisma that was sadly lacking from the last balloon who had the job.

The iceland manager Lars lagerback is being mentioned as one of the favourites on the bbc.

The iceland manager Lars lagerback is being mentioned as one of the favourites on the bbc. I'd much prefer Strachan. I don't know anything about Lagerback right enough, other than he has the word lager in his surname which is only a good thing, but just feel that someone like Strachan who the Scotland fans already have a soft spot for would be much better suited to leading our national side.

Strachan is a good appointment in my opinion, but a lot will depend on the Tartan Army's expectations. I think is a really hard job with the players available, although I think we are definitely better than the last few games under Levein showed. The guy isn't a miracle worker so I don't expect us to start beating the top teams. To start with I'll be looking for an improvement in performances and a bit more entertainment than we've been seeing from Scotland.

He talks the talk anyway. Interesting to see how many drop outs we have for the friendly up in aberdeen in a few weeks - first game under a new gaffer, i reckon players will be gagging to play in this one (even if it is up in sheepland against estonia - who might not even turn up!)

I'm not sure McGee is an exponent of the beautiful game, is he?
He's been shown the door a quite a few times too.
Not impressed, so far.

Stuart McCall in there too. Time will tell but I know I'm a lot more optimistic about our future than I was under CL.
Hopefully it all kicks off with a comfortable friendly win next midweek.

Anyone going up to aberdeen next week? Hope we pump them. Wonder if strachan will try and pick as close to what he thinks is his best 11 or just use it to try folk out.
