Know nothing about this lot other than I hope we give them a right good pumping.
It'll be quite a different Livi side to the one that finished last season so let's hope they gel together well quickly and get off to a good start.

I'm just looking for a bit of cohesion in the side. Results don't matter all that much in these friendlies as long as we keep moving towards getting better for the big league ko in August. Sure to be a interesting game.

They've signed Michael Tidser from Morton and he always looked a handy player when he played against us. www.themillers.co.uk/news/article/millers-confirm-tidser-capture-894087.aspxGoing by their website, they actually play Morton tonight, us tomorrow then Ayr on Saturday. Wonder if they'll just be giving guys a half each tonight and tomorrow or if we'll play a different team entirely from the one that plays tonight? Good just to get back down the Vale and see a Livi game! Hopefully it's a decent 90 minutes and we bag a goal or two.

Rotherham United: Millers step up search for fitnessRotherham United will use their two games in Scotland over the next couple of nights to give some game-time to all the squad. They play Greenock Morton at Cappielow tonight and then face another side from the Scottish First Division, Livingston, tomorrow night. Manager Steve Evans wanted to have two games on successive nights so as to enable him to ensure everyone in the squad gets a game at the same time guaranteeing they would all play within 24 hours rather than having two games in three days meaning some players having to wait an additional day. www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/rotherham/rotherham-united-millers-step-up-search-for-fitness-1-5835554

If you bought a season ticket, you were getting one of the three home friendlies included in that - you get to choose what game you use it for. If you want to use it tonight, you've just to drop into reception before the game and you'll be issued with a one off ticket for tonights game. www.livingstonfc.co.uk/news/news_20130709_3.phpAlso, the Almondvale Suite WON'T be open tonight but the Stadium Bar WILL be - get down and grab a pint before the first game of the the 13/14 season :-)

If you're planning to attend all three, I'd suggest leaving the free ticket for the Partick Thistle match as, if memory serves, it's £2 dearer to get into that one!

Will Livi TV be doing highlights tonight (and for the other two home games)?

A wee bit concerned how little opportunities to get the ball forward we were able to create.
Looks like there's still work to do for BnB to gel this group into a team for the coming season.

Considering the huge amount of posession that Rotherham had it wasnt too bad a defensive effort but agree that going forward was poor with the strikers getting little to no service ! I noticed a large boo from the crowd when Ricky Burkes name was read out in the starting line up and I can see why after watching him lastnite ! Mensing was excellent and if not for him him the scoreline would have been far less flattering !Rotherhams number 18 ran the show and our midfield should take a long hard look at the lads work rate, desire and creativity !

Men vs boys, literally, last night but that's to be expected given the gulf in finances. The fact that Rotherham were able to go out and bring in Tidser for £50,000 says it all about the different levels of budgets.
I think the most obvious thing last night was a lack of a target man or anyone to make the ball stick upfront. We'll not always come up against huge backlines like that but it's a worry that when we do, we might not have a way around it.
Trialist number 7 in the middle looked solid enough. Wasn't overly impressed with trialist wearing 16 though. Couple of decent saves from DJ. Not much him or Walker could do with either goal (although I think Walker got finger tips to the second).
We were missing six guys who might all walk into the first team though - Scougall, Keaghan, Burchill, Denholm, Docherty and Jones so there's guys still to come in.
The friendlies we've played so far, and the next two coming up, are against tough opposition I'm not too worried about scorelines. Aslong as the games are used in the right way then guys will get to know each other better and hopefully come the end of July, we'll be ready to kick things off with a win at Berwick.

Trialist number 7 is Burkes son who has zero footballing pedigree and has never even played 3rd division, never mind 1st division ! From what I remember his entire contribution was 2 slack back passes which nearly ended up in the back of our own net ! Just read the other forum and no one seems to know who he is, yet not one person had anything positive to say about him ! Burke hooked him late on in the second half but 5 minutes later put him back on again ? Looks to me like the managers first priority is the betterment of his friends and family at the expense of our club !

I thought the plan was to pass teams to death....don't need a target man for that. You need the ball first in order to pass it. We rarely held the ball in their half for any length of time. Too early to get overly worried though. WE'RE DOOMED!! #rubbish

I thought the plan was to pass teams to death... Who said that? Pedantically....probably no one used those exact words.....but since the 2 Johnnies arrival the club has openly said that the passing game is the "philosophy" of choice & I've not seen anyone say otherwise since their respective departures. Having a target man would surely be a victory for the hoofball merchants?
