Meaningless to who? Not me or my had earned! We can play better, we know we can. Why aren't we?

I just think a bit of perspective should be applied. Yes, it wasn't so good on Saturday but over the piece we've seen some excellent individual and team performances and what we've really been lacking is hitting the heights more consistently. A handful of results don't make us a bad team, or the 'worst Livi team ever', as one guy commented on facebook.

The league was reorganised many years ago because of meaningless games, and that is the biggest justification for the continued use of short divisions. But the truth is the whole of league football for all intents was finished by the middle of March. Its not fair on the consumer. If we had 18/ 22 format, we would have been fighting for a play off place or even a a direct promotion, as we stand we are playing for nothing. This creates another problem, as wealth is not spread evenly throughout the game, we have little money and cannot afford to write long term contracts. Players without contracts playing in a meaningless game will not put their playing career at risk by taking the same chances as they do when all is to play for. It is a self fulfilling doom as if we reduce price of entry for such games how do you appease season ticket holders, and if we dont do so how do we get gates? Not that many people have money to spend on meaningless football. It will be better all round if Scottish football stops trying to sell stuff people dont want and give supporters what they do want, real chance of success, a quality product, unpredictability and variety.

New contracts on Livingston agenda
LIVINGSTON assistant boss Mark Burchill vowed the club would look to sort out players’ contract situations as soon as possible after the Lions lost 2-0 at home to Morton.
Goals from Archie Campbell and Kyle Wilkie either side of the break were enough to see the Cappielow men head west with all three points as Allan Moore’s team tried in vain to keep the title race with Partick Thistle alive. The Jags won 2-0 at Falkirk to clinch the title.
It was a disappointing showing from Livi, who only have a handful of players signed up beyond the end of the season and Burchill said that is something that the club would look to address as the end of term nears.
He said: “There’s a lot of guys out of contract at this time of the season so I don’t know if some guys find it difficult to play with that sort of pressure – but we’re going to try and sort that side of things out as quickly as possible.

Livi fans hammering their own team who are on course for their highest finish in the league system for a good number of years? No way? *Rolls eyes*
We were poor on Saturday. Morton wanted it more than us and got their just rewards.
Hopefully we can put a few past a poor Airdrie side this weekend and keep ourselves in pole position to secure third place. Falkirk and Hamilton are breathing down our necks so the next two games could be the difference between finishing 3rd or finishing 5th. I'm assuming that prize money differs between each position so all to play for...

LiviLion: I think some people are showing disappointment because part way through the season they thought that the target should have been reassessed. Safety and security was prime at the start, but it seemed as if we had the ability to compete against all teams. It was then that some analysised our games and found regularly occurring issues which they preceived to be easily fixed and may have lead to better results. I think that for me, seeing some of our performances, which were so immense, while recently it appears to be petering out, is disappointing. In many ways its understandable for the players to act like such as there is more risk than benefits in playing at 100% at present. If you had no contract would you risk a serious injury?
