Hearing rumours that a Cardiff are keen to take both guys on trial next week. Danny looks stronger and is staying on his feet more, so he's obviously working on that. I hope we can hold on to Pittman and Halkett. They're essential for us.

I'd say Mullen is essential too, dear know what we'll do without him, unless we sign a 12+ Championship goal scorer to replace him. Really hope Hopkin has someone on his target list from the money Cardiff offers, or better still, we just don't sell him. A bit late in the day to lose one of our best players with the season starting on Saturday.

From the reports & scorelines of the preseason games we would seem to lack goalscorers; admittedly we have played better sides than those we will face on a weekly basis but goalscorers live on confidence & that must be taking a knock just now with no one having scored yet.
Preseason is about fitness & getting sharp for the serious games to come, hopefully we can start scoring soon...but having failed to persuade our top scorer to stay I would suggest that selling our second top scorer would be a dodgy route to go down. However, a club such as ours ought to be developing players to sell on when a decent bid comes in, so as long as the money is right then we may have no choice.

A friendly has been arranged with Cardiff for the 28th July. Could be an indication of a deal being made?

Or is it the method by which Cardiff get a chance to evaluate the players without disrupting our team?

Or is it the method by which Cardiff get a chance to evaluate the players without disrupting our team? May very well be what has been done Auldnick, both Knox and Mullen were in the team sheet last night, great idea to arrange this friendly with Cardiff for them to have a look at both players so we can have them playing in the Betfred cup games. Mullen was the player who assisted Carrick with our goal.

I understand that both players went to Cardiff on Wednesday to train there for this week and through the coming week. They're on trial and will therefore be unavailable for us for the Airdrie game on Saturday and against Stranraer on a Tuesday. Both will play in the friendly against Cardiff next Friday night when they meet up with their teammates again. Thinking ahead to tomorrow's game, it would be interesting to see whether the manager selects Peters or Mackin to play alongside Carrick (assuming that his injury was just a simple knock on Tuesday night and was substituted as a precaution, knowing that he was definitely starting needed because Danny would be away). I'd choose Peters. I thought he was very effective when he came on in Paisley and showed some nice link up play.
