Another big game today, against a side that has already beaten us 3 times this season (twice in the league and knocking us out of the cup). So there's a bit of an edge to the match. There has been a bit of a niggle between the players so we need to be playing at the top of our game. Both games at Bayview were so windy that they should have been postponed. We hammered them at home in the league but they punished us for being too sloppy in the cup game. We played some good stuff on Tuesday, after being so poor at Hampden last week, but the pitch remains a cause for concern. It's impossible to play free flowing football on a rutted surface, which will affect both teams, but which will affect us more. This is the most difficult game we face in the next few weeks. Win it and we'll be comfortable at the top of the league. Lose it and we will be looking over our shoulders for Alloa, who'll surely beat Stenny today. Livi to win 2-1.

East Fife are my new least favourite team. Nobody minds losing to a side that are positive or have a go. But they simply are the most negative team we've played against and, with Queen's Park just behind them, the most cynical of time-wasting spoilers. They offered no threat whatsoever and, in the end, got their goal from one of only two efforts in the whole game. Their keeper was wasting time from the4th minute of the game and the instructions from Barry a smith were clear - stop the game as much as possible and take as much time as you can to delay the restart. Unfortunately for us, the officials were so lenient on that time wasting that it beggared belief. I don't mind losing to a better side or even a side that tries to be constructive. Or even a side that defends with their dying breath to block every shot and fight for every ball. But East Fife are awful, cynical and well-drilled at negativity. Time wasting was the plan and it paid off for them. They'll say that they won and that's all that matters. Fair enough. But I could never imagine a Livi side so blatantly conning the fans like that. So, I hope they miss out on the play offs and that they get what they deserve - nothing. On now to Stranraer next week. I'll be there, as usual, and I'm sure the players will be up for it after coming away with no points today. It was a game that should have been out of sight at half time.

The number 4 was time wasting from their first throw in. IMO we battered them for 80 of the 90 mins but they defended stoutly, throwing everything they had in the way of the ball. The keeper made 3 or 4 very good saves as well. They came into it for 10 minutes and got the benefit of some dodgy decisions including the free kick that led to the goal...which I'd like to see again cause I wondered if the scorer was offside, may not have been but without seeing it again I'm not sure.
Disappointing to lose and have the rest of the contenders win but it had to happen eventually.

Agree with the above. They are playing Alloa next week. I wonder if they'll be so fortunate. From our point of view I hope they are but I'd say they used up every shed of luck they had for the season this afternoonn and I can see Alloa coming away with the points again.

One of the most frustrating games I've attended in a long time.
To be honest teams like East Fife are killing the game in terms of a spectator sport.I can't add anything to whats been said about their tactics today. Ok it may sound like sour grapes because we lost but that would be me finished watching livi if east Fife's syle of play was on offer everyweek.
Apart from the dam awful pitch its hard to criticise the team today. Although Crichton needs to sharpen up his delivery, it was wanting badly at times today and led to the break up of a few good promosing moves.
Finally the referee today was poor in dealing with EF's time wasting, If he had dished out a few yellows early on the game might have flowed beter for Livi. Also I don't think he played one additional second in the first half and about half of what he should have in the second half.
Bad day all round.

Nothing to say than what has already been said playing surface huge concern. They need to borrow the heat lamps from Murrayfield get the grass growing again and stop playing games on it outwith first team.
Enjoyed the game to be honest did not enjoy the poor fans turn out we need more bums on seats.
But good day all round thought we played well on another it would be 5 or 6 nil. Car journey to Stranraer next week.

East Fife came for a draw and left with all three points. Smith had them set out to time waste and stop the game from flowing, despite that we played some good stuff and should have won the game by three or four goals. I think it would just have taken one goal for us to blow them away, but it just wouldn't go in the net for us. Thankfully we don't have to play them again, they have been our bogey team this season, even when we totally dominated the game they managed to beat us.
Hopkin surprised us all and dropped Lithgow, putting Longridge at left back, even played both Mullin and Cadden on the wings when he made his substitution, and tried Todorov alongside Mullen, then Buchanan, couldn't have wished for much more from him and he really surprised me with his team selection. Might be hope for him after all.

That wasn't acceptable yesterday! We're a better team than them but they outfought us from the word go. Our inability to put the ball in the net at one end was compounded by our dodgy defence at the back - get that keeper back to Rangers asap FFS! And some of the fanboys over on that facebook verbally attacking fans who dare to criticise Hopkins and Martindale - have a word with yourselves! Especially the clown that now writes the fans blog in the courier - get your tinted glasses off and accept that the management duo seem to think that touchline histrionics and screaming angrily at the players till their veins are popping out is the way to encourage the team. What a couple of dinosaurs!

What a couple of dinosaurs! Was reading through the forums as I like to do, just to see the reaction (good and bad) from yesterday's result, and low and behold I got a lovely mention by yourself, thanks for that btw. Thought I'd set up an account so I could reply to your utter nonsense. Let me start by picking apart your assessment of the game that you can't have been at... We absolutely dominated the game yesterday, outplayed them and had enough chances to win 3 games, things just didn't go our way, you are correct when you say our inability to put the ball in the net cost us yesterday but that's about all you're right about in your assessment, who puts the ball in the net again ? Don't think that is Hopkin or Martinadale's job, they set the team up, the team created plenty chances, it's their job to put the ball in the net. We came up against an inspired goalkeeper, a defence that threw themselves in front of everything and a cross bar, it just wasn't our day. Btw if we send Liam Kelly back to Rangers we will be left with Maley and no one else, having watched Maley on more than one occasion that would be a disaster. Have you read the blogs before ? I openly criticised the team, the manager, the club last season, I will criticise when it's justified as I have done in previous blogs this season too, but this season on a whole has been going along just fine, we are top of the league, our goal is promotion we are on coarse for promotion, what more do you want ? It's about time some of our fans have a reality check, we are top half league 1 club a bottom half championship club, i'm a realist, we are a club on par with Airdrie, Dumbarton etc, until we get crowds of 1000-1200 that won't change. As for them being a couple of dinosaurs, I can almost gaurentee that if he sat down for 90 minutes some would complain about not getting involved and being vocal enough. He just can't win, every time we lose it's his fault, but gets no credit when we win games. You have no idea what goes on behind the scenes, I will tell you now, David Hopkin is doing a lot more than just coaching the team, the pitch is being worked on by people and he is paying them from his own pocket, he hasn't bragged about it like John Mcglynn did because well what's the point, half the fan base don't like him anyway. I was firmly of the opinion at the start of the season that David Hopkin wasn't the man to take us forward but he is our manager and we are top of the league, so I will back him, but I wouldn't blame him for walking away at the end of season even if we did win promotion because no matter what he does he can't win. Btw your point about "fanboys" verbally abusing others is invalid while you do it to others.

What a couple of dinosaurs! Did they feck, we totally dominated them all over the pitch, what utter nonsense. Their tactics were negative, to waste time and break up play as often as they could, so as not to let the game flow, eye bleedingly frustrating to watch but Smith wont be bothered because he got the three points. We're the top scorers and best goals against in the league but you go ahead and criticise our attack and defence, still winning by seven points but some folk take delight in a defeat just so they can fill their boots with criticism, and made up criticism at that. Oh and BTW, 4 clean sheets and only conceded 4 goals in our last seven games, aye our keeper and defence are dodgy.

Great post infact exceptional like you I was not a Randall and Hopkirk fan (old joke I suggest Google for those with less Savy) but I do not care a flying monkeys testicles with bells on if we win the league on goal difference. Worst case scenerio we are in play off mode Ayr United would stand in our way but a return to the Championship where sustainability next year would be imperative. Additional bums on seats brings revenue so we then have nice pitches, better players, blah blah. But if we all do not make an effort as individuals in what ever format verbally or via media to bring crowds back the game will continue to die on its feet unless you are part of the old firm.

I suspect Mr Angry is on the wind up. Mr Angry on the wind up? Surely not! If he has posted his genuine opinion...well we can't all be right can we? And he isn't. Saturday was one way traffic until late in the second half when they finally decided to have a go & got the benefit of some dubious officiating including the foul that led to the goal. It would seem if we are not blowing teams away every week then the team is rubbish & the management duo should be sacked, hanged, drawn & quartered... not necessarily in that order.
