By the time Albion give Celtic their share and Airdrie a cut for using their ground, they really won't have that much left. Don't kid yourself. Ticket sales, hospitality, tv money even if Albion Rovers are left with £40k at the end of that game then that will see them fine for a good few seasons. We needed to get as far as we could in any cup to maximise our income. Another Committee fall out and Livi could be bust with the money required to keep it going and the debt the club is racking up. It will end in tears one day that's is for certain.

And, granted, we've had several games against Rangers, Hibs and Hearts at Almondvale recently but the costs of punting two managers, releasing a wad of players, and coping with relegation from a predominantly full-time division to part-time one will have hit us in the pocket. Don't forget that the operating committee paid Gordon MacDougall the debt owed to him. Also, Rankine would have been looking to take back anything he may have invested into the club at the earliest opportunity too. All that'll have taken up a good part of the income from Rangers, Hearts and Hibs, if not all. A good cup run, this season, is exactly what the operating committee would have been praying for. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Again my sentiments exactly. Any incremental income to this club in the perilous finacial situation all be it we are led to believe stable is so so important.

Nobody is disagreeing that the money from a cup run would have been welcome, however, the stated objective from the get go this season was promotion, that was why we remained full time and why the operating committee/board/management whatever you want to call them have tried to provide the strongest squad possible. Everything is geared towards going up. Another round in the cup, especially if it had panned out as an away tie at Celtic and the resulting drubbing that would have ensued, would have been a bonus financially, but the gamble is to stake everything on going up.
