We had a 5 point penalty to make up last year which was why we were not safe till the last day of the season exactly we don't have this to make up this year fact is hoppy is no better than burchill or mcglyn his loan signings are no better than what he's put on loan example gibbons what did he do wrong ?kakay he's good but can't get a bloody game ,hoppys clueless in team formation and we are as a whole piss poor my question is who's going to start taking this joke of a club forward as to me since mcdougall has left clubs been a shambles well even more than it was

Yes but we were more than 5 points off safety ahead of the last 4 or 5 games, and we still had to make up the difference regardless.
If Dumbarton win tonight...they are 1 up at home to QoS at the moment... then I will agree that with 3 games left we are in a worse position this season

Yeah, I will now concede you are correct.
Technically, we should now be able to play without pressure, get they heads up for the last 3 games which hopefully gets them buzzing going into the play offs

It does not look good we have been beaten by lesser teams in the cups than the 3 in the first division play offs We went out the cups to Inverness (league above us), Rangers (our leagues champions) and Morton (same league as us)? We actually knocked Peterhead out of the Scottish Cup (quite convincingly too) and they may be an opponent.

I suggest that players of an equal calibre, being full time should an advantage. Time and again over the last few years, Livingston has failed to enjoy that advantage. The evidence is clear that we are not using this professional time to its best advantage, either in improving players fitness or quality. What they do and how they do it should be closely analysed, for if we get no benefit from it, we should revert to part time status.

Certainly no more irrelevant than beating lesser teams this season, we've also lost to lesser teams (Alloa) this season. So I wouldn't say completely irrelevant any more than any historical result is irrelevant. When we skooshed to the 3rd tier title we drew 0-0 & lost 3-0 at Balmoor but we were worthy champions. If we face Peterhead this season those results will give Peterhead hope but in reality have no real bearing on any future clash with them, similarly our 3-1 cup win at Balmoor this season would give us hope but the actual result is immaterial to any future game. We have taken 6 points off Alloa at their place but only 1 at ours, football is predictably unpredictable, especially where Livi are concerned. Play off games are a whole different ball game to the bread & butter of the league; I would like to think that over 2 legs we would prove to be better than sides from the 3rd tier but it will all depend on what happens on the pitch at the time & while you can look at form & past results for pointers to the outcome, there is no guarantee that what has gone before will impact on the actual event. We have beaten lesser teams but we have also lost to lesser teams; the former should give us confidence, the latter should serve as a warning...but we could still end up relegated.

My biggest concern about the play-offs is the mind set of our players on the pitch.
It is no achievement for a full time team like Livi to be in the play offs(if we finish up there) when Dumbarton, a part time outfit, has avoided them(as seems likely.) In fact it is nothing short of abysmal.
This sense of under achievement is likely to carry into the play off games whereas the League 1 teams will go into the same games feeling buoyed by their success.
The players need to treat these games with a clean slate and forget what's gone before. My concern is that if we fall behind in any of these games that lack of self-belief which has surfaced so many time this season will kick in and that's us fecked.
Hopefully Hopkin can get the team in to the right frame of mind to deal with any possible hangover. Anything other than 100% committment and concentration will cost us dear.

Are we of the correct level being full time? Traditionally the full time teams have finished above the part time ones in this division, normally. What livingston has managed is to produce poor results consistently against the part time teams. Now the format of the league is in my opinion miss leading, that too many points are gained getting the "bogey" over another side, for us Ayr comes to mind. But that said if you collate points against teams against status, you see that we perform significantly worse against part time teams. Now many things can cause that from as previously mentioned by another poster the lack of "getting up for it". That should only happen once, then professional pride and the advantage of full time should take affect....except for us ....it does not.

It's completely different given our result vs Peterhead this season was between both sides current squads. Any results from seasons gone by would have had entirely different squads involved? Of course the squads are different but how often does that matter? Celtic have a vastly different squad to 20 years ago but still generally beat the opposition. The same Livi squad that won away to Aloa failed to score at home to Alloa. Past results mean very little in reality other than to say which side has the better head to head record. The same Livi squad that won 11 points out of 18 followed that up with 1 point in 9. Form is sometimes a good pointer but not when you are as inconsistent as Livi. If football was that predictable we'd all get rich betting on it. Not sure our squad is currently the same as won at Balmoor this season, did we play them before or after January?
